Looking back, how do you feel about Hughes now?

I'll be honest about a few things from the start here:
1) I'm not trying to say 'I told you so' or anything
2) I know it is still early days
3) I wanted Hughes out from the start and if I'm completely honest I never really gave him a chance!

but.....

After the start we've had under Mancini, the quality of football we have been playing under him, giving a few youngsters a chance, getting squad players to play a hell of alot better (Petrov, Garrido, Benjani) and getting good, convincing wins rather than scraping wins 1-0, how do all the 'Hughes In-ers' feel about the Hughes era now? I personally feel like we've wasted 18 months with him, although to be fair he did build a good squad but he just wasn't getting the best out of them!

Just thought it would be interesting to hear how people feel now?

Hughes can take a lot of credit for where we are, he just wasnt good enough to take us the extra mile.

Its Hughes's team thats in fourth place right now, just playing better under better management.

exactly that, and we did treat him terribly at the end

i have no particular hatred for the guy but he was out of his depth with all the money and the big egos in the dressing room.

its still early days with mancini and the real tests are yet to come. but one thing he has done that hughes just could not is to organise the defence to look like a solid unit even with multiple injuries. im absolutely certain we would have conceded more goals in the past few games under hughes and maybe dropped a few points.

THIS^^^^^^^

Hughes built an incredible team for a top manager to work with, perhaps Hughes could have got there in time, but this season was too good an opportunity to throw away.

I don't think Hughes would have WON all 4 of the last games, definitely don't think he would have won all 4 comfortably though. Especially with all the injuries, and he also would have mentioned all the injuries before games to provide an early excuse should things go wrong, thus giving the team an excuse to play at their best i think.

Hughes has been very dignified in this (more than the board deserve) so I don't really have a bad word to say about him. His good points were beating the big teams and being very good in the transfer market, and we are reaping the benefits of this now with a more tactically minded manager who can also beat the lower teams.

All just part of the journey!

Mancini is looking great and I'm glad he's our manager - but to be fair, I felt pretty good about Hughes after the first few games of this season with this squad. And that included thrashing Arsenal. Mancini hasn't played any really good teams yet. Stoke, Wolves, Middlesborough, Blackburn - we've still not been tested against the top 4 standard. Everton away is going to be a great test. But the real test will be playing the scum.
