Looking back, how do you feel about Hughes now?

I wish people would forget about Hughes now. Its bordering on ridiculous. The guy took us to his level - mid table.

It won't be long before we start harking on about how suicidal we were when Alan Ball took over and we were really in the shit!!!!!

Get a grip, move on.

The futures bright, the futures MANCINI!!!!!

hughes built an incredible squad. he could buy the players but he couldn't lead them.
You didn't expect him to buy bad players for £240 million, did you?

Fucking hell here come the Hughes censorship brigade again

This is something that has been bothering me for a while now. After Mancini’s first game in charge any mention of Hughes’ tenure seems to warrant responses like ‘that’s the past now let’s concentrate on the present’.
The manager is the most important person at a club and whilst Hughes was manager for 18 months it’s hard to think of someone who divided opinion so much. It’s only now that we’ve got a new manager in to compare to that we are beginning to find conclusive answers to the questions and theories that we’ve been discussing over the past 18 months. Yet we're nt allowed to talk about it? What's all that about?

Bordering on ridiculous my arse - it's less than a month since he left and any comment comparing Mancini's start to Hughes' reign is shot down and isn't allowed to be discussed

still believe it was unfair to sack him and still believe he would have been a success.....

Mancini has done well since he came in and certainyl tightened up the defence, we are playng a lot more contained football which in my opinion is not as attractive to watch but is certainly better defensive.

I think MH would have got the same results (albeit with maybe conceeding more than we have done under Mancini) and we would be in the same position anyway.......................we now have a lot more sterner tests ahead starting with everton at weekend....but also we will have playes coming back like swp, ade (maybe not for everton tho) and eventually ireland and bridge and lescott.....lets see how we do then against better opposition but also with more available options for the manager.

All in all i was disappointed in the sacking of MH as i thought he was doing a decent job, but we have to move on and support mancini

We had a great start under Hughes too, winning 5 on the trot (1 being Barca). Mancini looks like he is the superior manager but after three weeks what conclusions can ewe actually draw?

I wish these type threads would die, whats the motive/point being them?

I still feel the way i felt over the last 12 months, he was never ever good enough to be manager of our team, the only credit he can take from it is he has built a good squad and has made some terrific signings, that's the only credibility he can take from all this, but it's pointless and it means nothing if you can't train the players or look after them, on paper we improved but on the pitch we didn't improve much,

I said from day one he was always out of his depth, especially when they money arrived, an inept manager with players like robinho in your side is like cat and mouse, everyone says we haven't played anyone BIG yet, remember Hull, Burnley and Fulham?, 3 games we should have won and if we did we would be top of the premiership on 47 points, 3 draws against average sides at home with the team we have, simply not good enough,

Hughes tactics and bizarre setups were clear to see, and he never ever had a Plan B if needed, he couldn't change a game tactically, 34,000 people could highlight a problem on the pitch, only hughes and his backroom staff never saw it,

It's no co-incidence since his departure the level of football has rised, the mentality of the team has increased, the back 4 look like a completely different back 4 and when the opposition get a corner or a free-kick i don't cringe like i used to and i actually feel confident we will win the header, the players look more happy aswell,

Everyone goes on about the way Hughes was treated, yes it was wrong but don't include that in his sacking, he got sacked because he wasn't good enough, like i said if you want to be one of the best you need a top manager in place, and that we have, under hughes i do feel we have wasted alot of time, could you imagine if Kaka would of signed? would of been a complete and utter disaster.

not getting drawn into this debate however IMO we would be top of the league if Bob had been here from the summer.
