Lost My Job

Did the company publish an internet usage policy which included details of disciplinary action? Some will allow reasonable use of the internet at work but some won't. However, if they didn't have an internet usage policy that everyone was aware of then you may have a case for unfair dismissal. Usually dismissal is only for things like visiting porn sites; if you'd had no previous warnings then they could only sack you for gross misconduct. Were you given the chance to appeal the dismissal?

our IT policy claims reasonable use...it does not state what reasonable use is, but we were told by our manager to only limit it to lunch breaks. i am appealing just waiting on my details coming through on how to.

there was no porn involved, just football related stuff and it was an isolated incident...they said it wasnt, yet have no proof that it wasnt an isolated incident.

Providing your work rate did not suffer either. I can't see a reason why, legally you won't win your appeal.

no the largest financial network in the UK

Well good luck with your appeal, I know a little bit about this, so if you need any "informal" advice drop me a PM. My knowledge is limited, but have had some dealings with unfair dismissals etc...
