My ex got done by her employer (a major sportswear company) for email usage and, more specifically the content of said emails. Two of her colleagues complained that their workload was too much for them (because they were fucking thick) so the company checked up on what they were actually spending their time doing, internet and email usage etc. They came across some emails those two had sent to each other, and my ex had joined in, where they were slagging off the company and talking about how they couldn't wait to get out of there etc. All three of them were disciplined, the other two were sacked, my ex was given a payoff and told to leave (or they'd sack her as well). Companies will try and find any way they can to get rif od people they don't think fit their 'ethos'. It was the second time the ex had been paid off to leave an employer though, so there was probably an element of her being generally a shit employee thrown in there!
