Have you been to Jobcentre yet? You need to put a benefit claim in ASAP. You might find you are sanctioned for up to 26wkks if they beleive it's your own doing that you lost your job.
Citizens Advice can be quite helpful too.

What, being sanctioned? You have to claim hardship where you lose 60% benefit. Its about £38 weekly and you don't get NI contributions so have to make it up later.
