Ive just started listening to a few Lou Reed tracks, thing they are pretty damn good! Anybody know what are the best albums to get? thinking of getting a couple

Anything bearing his name seriously, if you are talking commercially? Transformer is a good starting point, produced by Bowie and ~Ronson. See Glam Rock thread, or Wiki LOU REED. Velvet stuff is great depends if you are 12 or 20 though.

'New york'----The best!!![and years ahead of it's time]

Talking of that era Iggy's Lust for Life Album is his best with Bowie and Ricky Gardener writing most of the music to his lyrics.

Also a bit earlier try For Your Pleasure by Roxy Music.

Transformer is a brilliantly complete and diverse piece of work.
Rock and Roll Animal is great live album, much heavier - a proper good racket.

Probably Transformer is the best album to start with, Coney Island Baby is good, but he's also put out a lot of crap....specially the late 70s/early 80s stuff.

A couple of albums I'd reccomend are the New York Album and a more recently Set the Twighlight Reeling for later Reed stuff.

If your not put off by depressing music then you have to listen to Berlin Live at St Annes Warehous. Its not one to play at a party, but a brilliant, albeit harrowing listen.
