Loyalty Point System

The loyalty point system is probably the best solution but I do think they need to look at how many points you get for the games.

I do not go to many away games or travel abroad, but I do think that these types of games should be rewarded better than attending a home cup game.

This way, someone can catch up to others who are similar to me and it will be my responsibility whether I want to increase my points by attending these games.

How about this for a criteria:

Season Ticket Renewal = 200 points
Home Cup Game = 20 Points
Away Domestic = 50 Points
Away Europe = 100 Points

You could also include bonuses for attending certain amount of matches (eg all home cup games +50 points, 10 away games +50 points etc)

The criteria should not change throughou the season and then it is up to each individual supporter to decide how they wish to accrue points.

Supporters should be rewarded for supporting the team and nothing else.

So you should get more than double for United away than Reading at home? Can you not see how that would add to the problem?

There is not much wrong with the current loyalty point system.

Unfortunately, some fans will miss out and will feel aggrieved but such is life, the only way to rack up points is go to the games.

Loyalty doesn't start this season or last and as such, to start a rolling system knocking off points while you accumulate more is daft IMO.

Why should points from 10 years ago, when we were shit, be replaced by points next season, when we are good?

I understand about younger fans, but if you really want to rack the points up, it is quite easy

A 10 or 7 year system may be fairer. But between 5-10 and I can't see an argument against.

Yeah I am mate. I go to most aways (all on my card), my mate is coming also, again through our OSC and on some other blokes card (as he has done a dozen times this season).

I'm happy for my mate as he is good company but that bloke sat on his arse has picked up a few hundred extra points this season and that, in my view is wrong.

But that happens at almost every club. My son (I don't know where I went wrong ok!) had a Liverpool SC for many years and did this, I even went to some of their home matches on his card. My niece and her husband have SC for that place in Trafford and let their family use them when they can't. A friend who is Aston Villa does the same so why is it wrong for our fans?

I even let someone use my SC once last season when I was receiving an award and couldn't go. I was gutted because it was the Spurs match when we really needed to win!! (But I digress) So it happens all the time.

Of course this is all going out of proportion because we have reached the final of the FA Cup. I wonder how many of these people will be at QPR & Norwich next season???

De Niro, see you at QPR & Norwich? I've seen you everywhere else!! :-)

Ofcourse people let others use their card for home games. That is not in question and you miss the point quite spectaclularly. My post is about people letting others use their SC for away games so that they rack up the loyalty points.

-- Wed May 04, 2011 12:44 pm --

How is it daft? Why should 10 years ago count and not 12 or 14 or 20 or 30?

A rolling time period is the only fair way and it's coming as Johnmc says. The club want full houses and current loyalty is worth more to a business than historic loyalty.

Exactly - why 10 years ago.

I guarantee you would be annoyed if they all of a sudden said we have found a way of tracking back 50 years worth of tickets and therefore you are in the lowest bracket and cant get a cup ticket - you tune would soon change.

Lol... indeed.

Always said the loyalty points system is a joke.

Any City fan that lives outside of Manchester gets screwed. At the Semi the guy i was sat next to was from Cowplain in Portsmouth. Tell me how he is meant to make home cup games?

Take us lot that live in Scotland, we've got it even worse. The nearest ground to me is St James' Park, which is roughly 1hr 45mins away from my house. So there is 3 hours travelling to the nearest away ground.

To home games i spend around 6 hours travelling back and forth to the ground. Now im not trying to make out that i'm more loyal than any other fan, cos there are some real true blues on this forum, but i wouldn't mind some recognition for the amount of travelling that not just me, but alot of the supporters do.

You could move as I have said before.

I'm sorry mate and I do feel for you but there is no way the club can take fans location into account. It has to be on attendances be it now or ten years ago but you can't expect anything in return for where you live and the games you miss as a result.

IMO should we finish 4th or above this season then the club will roll out a whole new system for next year.

I think they have had it mothballed and ready to be introduced when we attain Chumps status.
ur dreaming

Its not as easy as that though is it? Especially now that people are losing jobs left, right and centre. My job is secure. Plus there are no guarentee's i'd end up with the same position that i now work in which would mean less money, and the possibility of not being able to afford to watch City.
