This.....
Rubbish 25 years ago the system wasn't based on loyalty points, it went solely gaining regular season ticket status(depending when you started it took a number of seasons)and the lines outside Maine Rd to the ticket office where crazy the day regular season ticket holders had tickets for anything released to them.

The distribution of tickets will have to change at some point in the future, probably to a similar ballot system that United use. You cannot have 36,000 seasoncard holders with over 10,000 of them never going to get a ticket for big games. Card holders not attending Cup games will have to forfeit their right to a ticket for those that have attended those matches. How can you keep justifying someone getting a Wembley ticket because they went to City 10 years ago and doesn't go to any cup games when a young lad may have gone to all City games this season and has only say 2,700 points and has no chance of a ticket for a competition he has supported City in ?

So you think it will be fairer to have a ballot?

Those blues with 4000+ points went in their thousands to watch us when we were at an all time low and it's only right that their loyalty is now being rewarded with a chance to see City in a final for the first time in a generation. Wembley tickets have been earned one way or another, the kids will get a chance to see City in many finals in the coming years if all goes to plan so sit tight and if they miss out this year there will be another opportunity soon.

If I bring my ticket stubs from York, Colchester, Macclesfield, Chesterfield etc etc away, does that help? ;)
I am just short of 4,000 points, it'd be more if I could afford to do that kinda shit these days.
I honestly thought it was set at 5,000 and no more, then I lately see people with 7,000+ points...?

-- Wed May 04, 2011 1:20 pm --

yep i think this what was meant..was a regular season ticket holder at maine road..im sure that when we moved to coms i think we got a few extra points to start with..but not 100 % on that.

The loyalty point system is probably the best solution but I do think they need to look at how many points you get for the games.

I do not go to many away games or travel abroad, but I do think that these types of games should be rewarded better than attending a home cup game.

This way, someone can catch up to others who are similar to me and it will be my responsibility whether I want to increase my points by attending these games.

How about this for a criteria:

Season Ticket Renewal = 200 points
Home Cup Game = 20 Points
Away Domestic = 50 Points
Away Europe = 100 Points

You could also include bonuses for attending certain amount of matches (eg all home cup games +50 points, 10 away games +50 points etc)

The criteria should not change throughou the season and then it is up to each individual supporter to decide how they wish to accrue points.

Supporters should be rewarded for supporting the team and nothing else.

So you should get more than double for United away than Reading at home? Can you not see how that would add to the problem?

I was only putting that up as an example. The point is they should have a static system which is published at the start of the season so people will know how many loyalty points they potentially can gain.

This season it has been all over the place, but I do think you should be awarded more for away games than home, whether this the Rags or Plymouth and especially for games in Europe, as these take more commitment than going to a home match for most supporters.

i think u should get more points for home games than away, it supports the club more financially

But City benefit more by selling tickets to homes games (especially less glamour’s ones) than selling tickets to away games. That’s why City have started awarding 100 points for home cup games.

Once people realise they can’t reset on their laurels they’ll buy tickets to FA Cup replays against lower league teams.

I'm a season ticket holder for 30+ years and get and get a ticket for any game.
However, the loyalty points should be set to zero at the end of each season and then it starts again on a first come first serve basis.
Why? Because the loyalty should only last one season - you are rewarded for your loyalty by being able to purchase tickets for big games at the end of that season.
A new supporter is just as loyal as me if he supports the team and then goes to every game. He is more loyal than me if he goes to most away games. Just because I have been to games previously down the years doesn't make me more loyal then the supporter next to me who has just started supporting the club.

If the current scheme continues it will get to a stage where unless you aged 50 years+ you won't be able to get a ticket for a game. Is this anyway to treat the next generation of supporters? You have to think of the future and stop looking at life through the rear view mirror at some stage!

As other posts have stated it will probably change to a ballot system sometime soon. I have no problem with that. I don't believe just because I have attended games in the past it gives me an automatic right to get tickets for the big games in the future.

If you bought the 2 year season ticket, you got 300 points IIRC.
i.e. buy the last year at Maine Road AND the 1st year at Eastlands together. Cost me a bloody fortune that did!

Strangely though, how we got 100 points each for the Aris and Kiev games? And 20 for each trip to Wembley.

I don’t think you should receive any points for United Away, European Away Games, Semi Finals or Finals. Then it will stop people buying the tickets for the loyalty points because they know they can easily sell them on.
