Makes sense to have walked but I can't honestly see that making sense that they would move the goalposts that much. That would preclude any transfer and you may as well just say he's not for sale.

Not a huge surprise. We were never going to pay 85 million for a player who wasn't an absolute standout performer in the Premier League last season. Let's be honest, was he a name on anyone's lips at the start of the transfer window? We presumably went in because he's clearly got the raw talent and we thought he'd be available at a fairly reasonable price. But when you start quoting world class fees, you've got to have a world class player to back it up. And he's just not that yet.
