He's basically told people or been persuaded by people to deliberately get a yellow card. It's called spot fixing and is illegal.
On the other side of the coin, there will have been punters who had no idea he was cheating that would have lost money because he was booked.
Spot fixing is rife in football, particularly in the asian betting markets if rumours are to be believed.

From what I can gather, friends/relatives of his bet heavily on him getting booked in a particular game where that happened. The betting patterns were suspicious and the foul itself looked pretty unnecessary. It’s like insider trading. They couldn’t even bet on a league 2 game because of the rules and they could have inside knowledge. Fucking idiot. He does this right around the time Ivan Toney is waiting to find out his punishment for his betting offences. With all the publicity that went with the Toney case you'd have to have shit for brains to pull a scam like this.
