Lucas Paqueta investigated by FA for alleged betting breaches

Could be but it also might just take time to sort out this mess and city don’t want to be involved.

Good player but hardly one worth getting caught up in a betting scandal. Maybe we go back in Jan or next summer if the issue is resolved.

West Ham get to keep the player for now. He will be grateful to them to a certain extent.

I would say city are also relieved.

Tbh having Doku in now is enough for me personally. Allows Foden or Jack or Bernie to play central which gives us options.

Also gives the club a chance to hold fire on signing another midfielder. Kev will be back in a few months anyway.

Depends how KDB comes back as well mate? Also seems Phillips wont play and Kova will give Rodri a rest so imo we need a top class CM or AM added.

Kev has been written off before. Hopefully the surgery was a success and he can put the hamstring problems behind him. Shame he didn’t have the operation over the summer.

You are probably right in that we are short 1 more player. You can see why the club is looking at eze. He can play in a few positions and most importantly won’t be taking over from KDB. As fans we just want the best team every match but the club needs to manage the person not the player. How would Kev feel now that he is out and we bring in a £100m replacement. I would be pissed after what I have given the club.

City are cleaver, we buy players who can play in multiple positions and then get taught by pep how to play proper football leaving us with a strong team no matter who is available or not while also not upsetting the squad harmony.

No way would we risk upsetting the ginger Prince and no way will we buy a player who is a like for like when Kev is still with us.

Eze or a player of his ilk is perfect. So unless we plan to dump kdb then no player will be purchased to take his place. Foden/Bernie will share the role until he returns. They will also get game time on the wings.

I saw headlines United are cutting him, but didn't bother to read why. I take it he is accused of something really bad?
Loads of info about it if you research his name.

Basically, his girlfriend posted a picture and audio recording depicting Greenwood allegedly battering her and raping her. It‘s pretty clear if you see and hear what she posted.

However, she reconciled with Greenwood and decided not to give evidence and so criminal charges were dropped as a result.

United undertook a 6 month internal review and it was leaked to the press last week (by unhappy club officials) that they were bringing him back with a strategised reintroduction.

This caused a reaction which caused a united backtrack and eventual u-turn.

Their statement said they believed Greenwood hadn’t committed any crime, but didn’t reveal anymore context.

He hasn’t been sacked. They’re probably trying to flog him somewhere.

All a big mess that doesn’t paint anyone in a good light.

My son told me, he had heard, that she was dropping the charges because she was expecting his child? Don't know what truth there is in that?...

Not sure if the timeline, but they’d obviously reconciled before his bail conditions finished, so it could well be true.

We’d better not clog this thread up with more off topic stuff. Just answered Dax’s question.

Something strange about all this? Maybe the Sponsor wanting the player to stay so this "info" comes to light and so a transfer is stopped? Then a hearing is delayed 3 weeks so the window shuts and they will know that City will have moved on.
I doubt any of this is true. If it is it will destroy WHs credibility. Clubs just wouldn’t deal with them. Sounds like bullshit to me. Organisations don’t just dive in in a wing and a prayer: there are legal implications. I’m glad we walked away from Paqueta and West Ham..

While I agree I doubt this is the reason their sponsor made the FA aware, the part about organisations not diving in, you could argue was disproved when Red Bull stepped in to resolve the Gvardiol deal when the club failed to.

They are entitled to do that, it’s business and their club. It’s another thing entirely to scupper a multi million £ deal and destroy the credibility of a player AND a premier league football club..
