Lucy Powell

BBC News.

On Saturday, Cabinet Minister Lucy Powell told the BBC Labour was "not in hoc" to vested interests "at all", and had declared donations correctly.

She said Labour was "taking on" water companies, rail companies and the football clubs, adding "we're on the side of fans, we're on the side of consumers, we're on the side of ordinary people".
I wonder what the ordinary people of Miles Platting, Ancoats and the rest of her constituency think about the £40k she's registered as gifts 'n freebies. Does she have a box at The Etihad upgraded from an ST in SS1?

I think they are two separate issues mate, the first one is the Labour parties pledge to the people we'll see on that one, the second a consequence of doing her job, where people seek favour via gifts which is morally wrong.
In this Country we have developed a Celebrity culture even using A to Z to define self importance, where Celebrities feel they are owed something by ordinary people, and they bounce from freebie to freebie not caring for the consequence of the freebie, It seems that those who can afford to pay don't and the people who struggle and work hard pay indirectly for there freebies.

Being an MP she could put her name down on the early motion on football ticket prices. 11 MPs have done so to date.

The parliament 'bible' ErskineMay says:

"It is open to any Member to table an EDM although in practice government ministers and parliamentary private secretaries do not do so."

THe main parliament page on EDMs says much the same.

Let's hope he sticks the boot in.
The whole Timpson family are City fans and have been for generations.

They are very generous philanthropists and good people.

We auctioned their company fleet vehicles and John sometimes attended the auctions and was always most open and friendly.
