I doubt Luke Shaw will come to city.


I hear he's a boyhood Chelsea fan and Cole is 33 so his replacement is imminent and Chelsea will want to get a promising young lad to be there for the next 7 or 8 years or so, for stability.

Don't they have Bertrand ? Anyway if we don't go for him, wouldn't mind that much if he ends up in chelsea. But for the love of all things decent, please don't go to the rags or the arses.

Very impressed with him yesterday,another from the school of attacking fullbacks but he has a football brain to go with his athleticism.

A much younger,more intelligent,industrious and mobile version of Kolarov.

i just did a bit youtube on him after yesterday and he's defo a player
like everybody else I hear this and that but you only can see when he plays vs you and yesterday he was great

we must go in strong on him ok yes we will have to pay over the odds but we must get him in a city shirt what a left foot

Yes mate he looks like he`s already made for us,but I would think if Chelsea went knocking he`d be off there,only because of him being a fan.We can but hope and try.

He'd push Clichy or Kolarov (whichever stayed, probably Clichy) out of the team quickly, IMO. He can defend and attack well, Clichy and Kolarov do one well but can't do the other very well.

Best chance for us ever signing Shaw would be the Saints clinging to him (they have plenty of ££) and Chelsea feeling the need to get Cole's successor in quick so they buy Moreno or Coentrao. Then with his favourite club out of the way, we only have United and Arsenal to compete with for Shaw when he inevitably moves down the line.

He's a fantastic player, it's rare we see an English player of his ability at the moment.

I just don't get it, so to help me get it, someone on here give me specific instances of any game this player has so single handedly changed that we must buy him?

It's one of the positions I think we should be targeting to improve. Whether Shaw is the answer I don't know, not seen enough of him. If we could merge Kolarov and clichy or there is such a version about that's what we should be looking at.

Clichy is (usually) the more dependable defending. But offers little or nothing past half way. Kolarov does create goals, scores a couple but doesn't fill me with confidence at the back. If you look at Zabba he defends as well as clichy and does offer something going forward although not as good a delivery as Kolorov.

Another Zab would be perfect though.

Still huge pressure on the lad if he did move to either us or Chelsea and at the moment there is not much at Southampton. Don't get me wrong left back is a position we should be targeting but not place all our hopes on 18 year old imho.

If we showed you a ton of highlight footage then it would be labeled as only showing he positives, too be honest everything is subjective.

The evidence is that many share the opinions that have been placed in this thread before your comments.

He's played a lot of meaningful prem games at a very young age, that is hard evidence that he is a special talent even if Southampton is just a top half club.

Look at the recent history of players who have come out of that team and were picked up by other clubs, didn't play as much when they first made the step up but continue to grew to the household names we know now. Bale, Walcott, Ox Chamberlin, pundits are placing Shaw in that group and if we were to be in for him he could add better crosses training with Kola or use his pace effectively training with Clichy and help build a foundation of a younger back four so we don't have to spend in a key position.

Our back four isn't getting any younger so it's now time to start looking at the future with Rekik, Nas, possibly adding Shaw and maybe Richards regains form as he is still relatively young.
