Lyon CL QF Post-Match Thread

I thought the same thing. I think he’s done the cardinal sin of thinking beyond Lyon and set up in preparation of how he’d set up versus Bayern.
Never been so more frustrated than last nights system. Let them worry about us and just go and blitz them with a our energy and zip. With Sergio out he somehow leaves Bernardo, Mahrez, David Silva and Foden on the bench . Mind boggling !!! This defeat Is going to get some getting over.
yes it is,i was so mad last night, now I just feel desperately disappointed for Dave and kev in particular and for Bernie who would have played the best evef had in front of his family in his own city, lea in all our creative players on the bench and bringing on FFS who is not known to make the right decisions at the best of times,am gutted

We didn’t, you bouncing around every thread telling everyone how simple the game is doesn’t make it so.
It might be when you’re managing the Dog and Duck but this is the very highest level of the game where a bit more thought goes into it than ‘Playing your best players and win easily’ shite that’s repeated on here so often by the same posters.
Pep will have to accept his part in the defeat, as always happens to a manager when they lose. What he doesn’t have to do is apologise to the many armchair managers on here who demand to see the same players every game for 60 odd games a season because on paper they are ‘The best’

it’s the quarter final of the champions league, your biggest game of the season. You play your best players in your best formation, I would have thought

you don’t

give the opposition far too much respect by setting up defensively

drop an inform youngster for a youngster who wants to leave the club

put that youngster who hardly plays in the Middle of a three a formation we hardly play

play a right back at left back

play two defensive midfielders

leave two Silva son the bench

when it’s not working not change it at half time

when we are needing a goal or two with 10 minutes to go not bring on any attacking subs to try and go for it.

Complete nonsense the manager of the dog and duck would have played our best players.

All those points might be correct and I’ve no problem with it being pointed out because we lost and questions should be asked.
He put out the team he thought could win that game, and on another night it could have done, even taking into account the poor overall performance.

Never actually seen a professional game played on paper , maybe individual errors don’t happen on paper but I can’t be sure ?
Play your best players, let the opposition worry about your strengths, especially a team considerably weaker than ours.
IF we had won, I could understand these tactics against Bayern but not the 7th placed team in France.

he said I thought we were ready to win the competition but we are not, fuck off with that stuff,we are not at the level of anyone else with a squad like ours, then his nonsense about the game,he didn't take responsibility ,he implied it was the p!ayers not him,he had five subs,he could have changed it but waited over an hour and brought on the wrong one,his constant we are not ready bollocks is just that, bollocks

I can’t argue about the use of the word nonsense because from the 500 posts you’ve made since last night it’s a subject you’re well versed on.

But they score the chances in the big matches, when it matters, hence why Aguero is a legend.

Londonski 50 plus goals this season, incredible performance.
They all miss chances in big games too, when it matters. You're judging Jesus by standards no other striker (Messi, Ronaldo, Lewandowski, Aguero, Salah, Mane, Kane, Haaland included) is capable of achieving. Every striker misses big chances in big games, fact.

Coulda woulda shoulda. He got it wrong because we got beat, can’t argue about that. He was well within his rights to pick the team he did for the reasons he did though and a couple of angry blues on the internet doesn’t change my opinion.
