Lyon CL QF Post-Match Thread

It was obvious from the team that Pep picked, he was more worried, about Lyon. Then rather let Lyon worry about us. Starting with 7 defenders/defensive players. This just left us with 3 up front, it's no wonder we failed to create any chances. Any changes should have been made at half time. So what does Pep do make changes after nearly hour. This was way to late to get us back in the game.

The 1st change should have been 1 of the 3 defensive midfielders for 1 of either the 2 Silva's or Phil Foden. This should have been done at half-time. The 2nd change should then have been Ryhad for 1 of the other defensive midfielders. This would have made the team more balanced.

Pep should stop worrying about how the opponents are going to play, and let them start worrying about us. This was at least the 3rd time this season that Pep has got his tactics totally wrong for a game. I just hope that Pep has learned his lesson from this defeat, and will never G14 this sort of formation again.

Mate, footballers aren’t as insecure as fans and believe me, they wouldn’t have given his selection a second thought and they certainly wouldn’t be using the fact he’s leaving as a stick to beat him with.
They all know the score, they are professionals who move from club to club. It’s not as big a deal as some are making out.
Had we won then maybe García wouldn’t have started the next game because Pep might have swapped us around completely due to the opposition.
Bernardo has to work on his own game and justify a start because as much as I love him he’s not had a good season.
Bernardo has not had a good season, BUT, he gives you incredible energy and desire, he would have worked himself into the ground for the cause. Also the game on his home soil would have meant so much for him.
Sorry but the Garcia decision made me speechless, I though Pep would play him against Real, but as said before, good strong management dropped him from the squad, never for one second did I think he would appear again.

Also he's a young kid, not a seasoned pro, a young decent kid, nothing more.

Berardo was 40m and an outstanding class player at Monaco, Sterling 45 m quality player at Liverpool.

He was paid 100m on full backs that can't defend and have contributed little.

Jesus ,Bernardo and Sterling have improved immensely under Pep's tutelage and their values have trebled , Walker has been a success , Mendy has been blighted by injuries which no coach can foresee, and Cancelo is now showing some potential and cannot be judged on one season.

Last night felt like the City version of "Titanic". As soon as I saw that horrific starting line-up I just knew Pep was steering us towards the mother of all icebergs. He had the chance of 5 subs (lifeboats) to rescue us, but even managed to mess that up. Work is going to be grim tomorrow. Thanks Pep!

Cancelo is a terrible signing 50m whatever you say, Walker agree, great signing and a player I have total respect for, BUT he was 50 million.
Jesus was a steal , Tikix at his finest, but it has not happened enough.

I still think our scouting/recruitment is poor, not all Pep's fault for sure.

I’ve not seen much evidence of Bernardos energy and desire this season. We know it’s in his locker but it’s been missing for months.
Next year is a clean slate for him though and hopefully he’ll get back to his best.
The García thing really didn’t bother me one way or another.

LOL Bernardo energy is never in doubt , just the wonderful footballer did not come back from his summer holiday.

Next season clean slate? you mean next season in 3 weeks time?

If Pep stays I fear Bernardo won't, hope I am very wrong.
