Lyon CL QF Post-Match Thread

No doubt Pep got it wrong today but that does not excuse player errors. One of the reasons Pep tries different things like today is because the players can't always be relied on to go out and deliver in this competition. He's tried to compensate for their weaknesses rather than just playing to their strengths. The fact is he has come a cropper with both approaches. We need some new players to help Pep elevate us again.

I've not read this thread but if comments are anything like those on Twitter, it'll just have me shaking my head at the state of some of our supporters. Pep is not perfect but Pep is not the problem.

you are wrong. 100% wrong. Today that performance and ultimately result was Peps doing.. everything that worked against Real Madrid was changed. We were cautious against Madrid but not to that extent. That set up for the first 55 mins was horrific given it was effectively a 1 Leg tie against Crystal Palace (in terms of quality).

Gundogan, Rodri, Cancelo all not good enough

Fernandinho past it

Laporte crumbling again in the CL

Jesus and Ederson fantastic at everything apart from their number 1 job of scoring and keeping it out of the net respectively

Worst by a mile though was Pep, got it completely wrong, refused to change it for 60 mins

Can spend what we want this summer, but looks like we'll be relying on Rodrigan and CM and we'll win zip with those 2

Tonight he was unquestionably part of the problem. Lyon finished 7th in Ligue Un, do you think Pep would have played that team and tactics against a PL team of similar ability? I certain he wouldn't, he's got a hangup about the CL because he's not won it for so long.

Would not be surprised if Pep walks ....extreme ....but his reaction after the 3rd with his staff did not look good ,their reaction to him did not look good either

Yes we missed sitters, but how the fuck is that not a foul on Laporte for that second goal, it was the clearest trip we could ever see.....had that been Martial, they'd probably have given a penalty.....still down to the manager though. £20m a yea r for that!!
how come it only takes 1 pass to consistently split our defence and put an opposing player clean through on goal, where's the defensive organisation from Pep and his coaching team. The better team with more top class players at its disposal failed miserably, again.
