Lyon CL QF Post-Match Thread

Pep is not perfect but Pep is not the problem.

Since he's been at the club we've been one of the highest spending teams in Europe - yet we've not made it to a CL semi final. Regardless of how you want to spin it, it;s nowhere near good enough and even Pep would admit that.

I just think he doesn't have it in this competition anymore.

Flat track bullies sums us up. For me we are in a whole load of shite and I think Guardiola is so dominant that he's stifling to the players own thought processes. There comes a time for all managers when a change is needed and I'm beginning to feel this has ran its course.
“Flat track bullies” you say. We’ve just beaten LiVARpool 4-0 and Real Madrid 4-2 and lost to Southampton and Lyon. That my friend is the exact opposite of a flat track bully

No doubt Pep got it wrong today but that does not excuse player errors. One of the reasons Pep tries different things like today is because the players can't always be relied on to go out and deliver in this competition. He's tried to compensate for their weaknesses rather than just playing to their strengths. The fact is he has come a cropper with both approaches. We need some new players to help Pep elevate us again.

I've not read this thread but if comments are anything like those on Twitter, it'll just have me shaking my head at the state of some of our supporters. Pep is not perfect but Pep is not the problem.

He is part of the problem imo.

So he needs to choose his path of real defending or Barca. Imo if it's A he'll be here for years, if it's B he'll be gone in a season or so.

Whilst we keep this victim mentality nothing will ever change. Did VAR make sterling score a conversion, or make LaPorte (if he’d been fit all season we’d still have finished a long way second) play the most ridiculous cross field pass of the night, or make Ederson drop one an under 12 keeper would have held on to?
I usually fall into the happy clapper brigade but the only 3 letter word that cost us, tonight at least, was PEP not VAR.
The ref put the whistle in his mouth but didn't blow it,word in the ear

I said a few years ago that refs should be mic’d up to answer post game questions on controversial decisions. Still feel the same now.
no reason this cannot happen at the highest level of the sport....

I honestly think Pep will consider walking....he looked absolutely befuddled as to why us matching their system wasn’t working, looked completely desperate begging VAR for a reprieve, and shell shocked at the final whistle, can’t bring myself to watch the interviews, is this the end for project Pep? Tiki, Soriano and the whole Spanish Clique, I really hope not but it looks like football is moving in a different direction to the tika-taka
Not from his interview he doesn’t just said we will break it one day This is not tikka-take football

Man the fuck up blues this is not 1997 or 1983, embrace this period its brilliant.

Agree 100% mate.Thing is though, our standards and expectations have changed haven’t they? I guess that’s the point (but I do agree with you!).

Pep is right about the night but they all have to accept their failings and sort it for the next season - as he said it will come City fans have been patient and it will come - lots of folk think someone else could manage better but give your heads a wobble - Pep Is of the best and can do it And has done it! we will get there - so BELIEVE !!
