To me there are two crucial pieces of circumstantial evidence, both concerning the man carrying a child sighting.

In the first, the McCann's friend Jane Tanner claimed to have seen a man carrying a child. However, from her evidence it was considered almost impossible that no one else would have seen this man as according to this his route would have taken him past a busy area with a number of other people in it and no one else saw him as she described it.

However, an Irish family also saw a man carrying a child at the time of the incident. They were shown pictures of Robert Murat but failed to identify him. However, when they got back to Ireland and were watching the news, they saw the man they had seen that night. They believe it was Gerry McCann.

cos it sounds to me like we'd never get anywhere in life with you going round saying "don't question it, she's innocent!".

Wherever have I ever said don't question? Everything should be questioned. I just continue to presume innocence (or non-existence) until proved otherwise. That's how logic dictates we do things.

those videos show evidence that leads to doubt and questioning, and a "why haven't they been properly criminally investigated?", because they clearly haven't been, the police has been a farce all along.

regardless they are guilty of leaving their kid unattended, neglecting them in all honesty and being responsible as a result for her dissappearance and everything that has happened since.

They should be accountable for it, it's their fault.

I didn't know that either. In the last 2 pages, my thoughts have been swayed. That's why they don't do jury by forum I guess.

It goes against everything we know about human nature, particularly where the loss of a child is concerned. How many years has it been now? Four? If either parent had been involved then you are crediting them with something completely off the scale.

I saw that book as cathartic for her, and fully understand why she did it.

Oh come on Sharon. How many times have you watched the news about a child's disappearance and some member of the grieving family pleading for news of him/her have been found to be the ones responsible for their death?

They are clever people and knew the discovery of what some believe to be the truth would lead them (and their firends) to ruin. So they covered it up and the police failed to pin it on them, so they got away with it. Of course you'll maintain the lie under those circumstances.

And what better way to maintain it than pretending she's still alive.
