Madeleine McCann

A few things stand out as being pretty suspect to me.
Kate's immediate assumption that she'd been abducted without any real evidence (no signs of a break in etc).

After they found out she was missing and did an initial search, the tapas 7 sat down together and wrote down an initial timeline of events for the night, and then later on did a revised one. If my kid had gone missing i'd be marching the streets looking for her, not concerned about getting an agreed timeline with the rest of the tapas 7.

The other one though is the photos. The local police asked for all the tapas 7's cameras and photos taken during the holiday, to see if they could identify any likely suspects lurking in the background etc.
They didn't really comply with this request. Instead the photos were collated by their PR guy, and about 100 were passed to the police on a disc/drive. Out of these 100 photos only about 5 showed Madeline, and 3 of these were from the first day of the holiday when they arrived. Something like 10+ of the photos were of the tapas 7 at a meal at a beach restaurant (which the McCanns didn't attend), from earlier in the day that Madeline went missing.
Again, if i thought my kid had been abducted (and a possible planned abduction at that) i'd be getting hold of every camera/photo of guests staying at that complex to see if any suspects could be seen on them.

I'm still undecided as to what is likely to have happened to Madeline, but i'm pretty convinced the tapas 7 weren't checking on the kids every half hour like they said (if at all), and if they did they weren't going into the actual room to check on them; more likely just popping their heads in the patio door to see if they could hear any crying. Also possible that the McCanns roped the rest of the Tapas 7 into this lie, so they wouldn't look like totally negligent parents, and this why there is so many contradicting statements
 
One thing I couldn't get my head around, that Oldfield fella or whatever his name is, said he went to check on the McCanns kids for them. Said he noticed the door was wide open and there was light in the room as if the window was open, and then he heard a movement which sounded like someone turning over, so hes gone to the effort of checking on these kids yet he doesn't even stick his head through the door to check they are ok, even if you ignore the fact he said he thought the window was open how odd is that?

Not really. Their selfishness caused their daughter to likely suffer unimiginable things if she was actually abducted, in comparison to them feeling guilt or shame over their actions.
It's akin to feeling sorry for a drunk driver who killed a family member or someone close to them

Yeah, I agree there’s a lot of BS about the case and even if they were swingers I don’t think that makes them any more or less likely to have anything to do with it so for me it’s largely irrelevant.

What most certainly isn’t bullshit though is the statement that Dr Katherine Gasper gave to Leicestershire police about 2 weeks after Maddie disappeared:

Come on mate I don't even think you believe what you've just wrote, and that's what I was saying earlier, once folk realise that certain conspiracy theories are a bit far fetched, they look for another angle on it, just like you have done now trying to convince yourself that it only needs a couple of them who are in on it with Gerry & Kate, while keeping it from the other five.

It's just ridiculous.

Think you’ve got me wrong on this. I’m far more on the fence with it all than you and others might think. I’ve stated on numerous occasions that I can’t see how they could’ve kept up this lie for so long. I also think it’s not inconceivable that the dog “evidence” could’ve been planted by the police.

For me, there’s so many different layers to all this which makes it such a fascinating - but sadly, tragic - case. The thing is, there are some very intelligent people on this forum who sit on either side of the debate. I prefer to keep an open mind to it all and I can see both sides.

I have my own issues with the way the portugese police held the investigation but the idea they planted the smell of a dead body in the apartment, on Madelline's toy, Kate's clothes and their hire car is absoultely mental.
You have to also remember these sniffer dogs were british, not portugese
