Madrid Travel

They cant announce anything until Madrid sort the ticket cost, allocation etc as she says. Nobody at the ticket offices fault.
True, but they didn’t even give an indication of whether it would be by post or collection. Surely they’d know that now, irrespective of how many tickets we get or the cost.

To be honest I just think the person I spoke to was clueless and didn’t seem that interested. That’s my main gripe, not the lack of info (because I accept that mainly is down to Madrid themselves)

Just spoke to our fantastic ticket office and they said they're waiting on Madrid confirming the ticket arrangements but are chasing them. I asked whether it would be tickets by post or collect at the Etihad or in Madrid, the girl said they didn't know and there would be information "soon" on the website.

I said the game is in less than 2 weeks, that's a lot to sort out before people start flying out on the Monday/Tuesday before the game. She didn't seem that arsed.

So overall a completely useless phone call, as usual with our ticket office!
The clue is in the pronoun.

Criteria is very open
Maybe I’m being hopeful/naive as i only qualify in the last window but i suspect anyone who wants one will get one as it’s a huge allocation and flights are expensive .

Not sure how collection will work as live 5 hours from etihad! But I will work it out hopefully

No tickets will be passed on here then good about time should be same for all games so if u qualify, you get one if you don’t qualify, you don’t get one

Surely there'll be an option to collect in Madrid

Wonder why they’ve not advertised this on here??Nothing on their website either.
Hate to say it but it sounds bollocks, sadly.,
There was an extra week April 24 between draw and game so that is my only concern. In 24 there was little advertising also. The same expression of interest happened. The day of ticket release there were additional twitter releases and then the seats were released first come first served basis. Sold out in 5 days. Enough interest and they will do it. They fly one plane only and unlike the sportsworld flights I have been on this was a v smooth process. You have to get your own transport from airport but that's easy in Madrid. At £389 it really isn't that bad Man - Madrid direct esp like last time it's an 8am flight out and midday flight back the next day.

In 2023 when it was collection from Etihad, did you have to pick up your own ticket or could someone else collect on your behalf?

There’s 5 of us going and one of us lives local so could pick all 5 up at once

I’ve heard a rumour about mobile tickets too.. but the Spanish football clubs aren’t too keen on us English. So last few years it’s been paper tickets with our names on. City communicate a meeting point to collect tickets in Madrid though so if you buy through city you should be fine either way. They haven’t half left it to the last minute!
Thanks for your response most helpful if there is a designated collection point in Madrid. There’s quite a lot of blues over here in the same boat

Flights booked. Manchester to Alicante early Tuesday, train to Madrid Wednesday, stay Madrid Wednesday night then train to Alicante Thursday and late flight back to Manchester. Flights were £224 return; train £48 return. Can’t fucking wait.

Its definitely paper tickets now. City always have a representative over there so I assume they will take tickets over for supporters clubs or people who cant get them, best bet is to call City and see how they will accommodate.

So tickets out - pick up ethiad. Sports options would fly direct but they will need to fill a plane. They will decide on weekend depending on how many people are interested. So if you want a direct flight £389 phone them or email them.

Sports options now probably not an option:-

Dear City Fan ,
Many thanks for your interest in a possible trip to the playoff game second Leg in Madrid .
To be honest we have had very limited interest in this. Reasons for this are likely because of the multiple number of times we have played in Madrid in recent consecutive seasons ... mostly Real but also Athletico . Police treatment of visiting fans and that certainly puts some off . The fact that this playoff will be the 5th away tie this season and if City go through... there could be a last sixteen just two weeks later ... then also quarters onwards with even another trip to Athletico possible .. all in the space of 12 weeks. Couple this with potential visits to Wembley and it's easy to see why some people may drop this one out.
We will still monitor the situation and should the first leg leave the tie very much in the balance we may still offer a last minute trip if there is a surge of interest. . .. we are aware of quite a few who are thinking this way.
Anyway for the moment we are sadly not offering a flight but will continue to monitor the viability of doing one .
Wishing you all the best for the first leg and hopefully at least we may get to offer a last 16 trip..
Kind regards

Hi all,

Where are most people staying in Madrid?

In the centre or nearer the stadium?
