Maffeo and Angelino loaned to Girona

Sagna > Maffeo > Zabaleta

I will be really sad if we didn't give Maffeo a chance to prove himself next season.

As you all know he was MOTM against United but unfortunately Pep didn't reward him more minutes after his brilliant performance.

Isn't the end game to get them ready for a place in City's team? If so, they've both already done the overseas loans. Sending them out again only serves political agendas and not the development of the players in question.
I can quite understand a coach helping out a family member with loanees in a mutually beneficial sceneario, as this has happened before. However, the idea that Pep would knowingly and purposely foresake his own and his clubs future ambitions to help a family member's career (if that's what's being suggested) is frankly ridiculous.

I think it's a case of paying back favours to the Guardiola family. It's quite clear Txixi was keeping them sweet to ensure Pep's arrival. Now he must continue to do so.

I don't think it's a case of forsaking his own or the clubs ambitions, just the players being pimped out.

The fact that they've both gone to Girona may be an indicator that they are actually a part of our plans.

Still a bit baffled at the Maffeo loan but I guess I'll hold off judgement for twelve months.

Both Maffeo and Angelino hardly got a sniff so far this season, but I like to think the management agrees they have a future at City and need minutes rather than warm the bench or play with the EDS. Despite growing impatient, we need to leave it with the ones who work with these lads on a daily basis. The PL is by far the most difficult league for a youngster to develop. Doesn't say it's a better league, it's just that it's physically hard based on tempo, physicality (if that is a word), games come and go, and the finances at stake.

I just wonder how Gerona is a good enough club for them two to develop.

No bother with Angelino going out on loan as he's a long way off ready for the first team imo, but sending Maffeo out is madness, he's shown enough to deserve some game time in the first team and there's a good chance we'll need Sagna to cover the centre back positions at some stage.

Or that Pep is the only person who has sign-off on such a deal.

it is amazing that the experts on here have managed to gather all the relevant information needed in order to make an informed decision on the benefits - or otherwise -
of these loan decisions. Personally, I was going to make do with an emotional reaction, which I was then going to fob off on the ignorance and/or agenda of the club
and its staff. Guess this thread has shown me the error of my ways....
