Off topic cont:
It’s a million in the pension pot, not a million in the bank.
BBC reported it affects about 4% of the population.
If you had no choice in paying part of your wage into your pension pot - I think anyone on a normal govt payroll (eg health/army), then it’s a bit of a kick in the teeth (albeit a nice one to have) to have to pay top whack pension penalty tax on something you can’t do anything about.
This tax penalty is a reason that many doctors/consultants/army have early retired or cut back hours.
I’ve heard multiple stories of consultants being awarded a pay grade rise (not generally affecting their income tax position), and getting such a penalty on the annual allowance pension that they were £20k worse off than before pay rise…

I reiterate - it’s a nice position to be in , but if you’ve budgeted your lifestyle and then have a £20k reduction in that budget AFTER a pay rise…

So for the NHS, this is a good move to retain vastly trained and experienced personnel.

NB: I do not fall into this category!
 
UEFA grant Liverpool FC special dispensation for a place in next seasons Champions League after winning new Fair Play Award.



…..because Real Madrid pleaded with UEFA that they will miss playing Liverpool in the competition next season; this after Liverpool consistently forfeit match to Madrid despite Liverpool being the far better team.
