Its not as i believe he doesnt vacate the position until the result of the election, if he would have the cheek to do so is another matter.Don’t think that’s correct.

Seems like another nonsense rule for the establishment .Happy to be corrected, if he can lose in Makerfield and remain GM Mayor that is a definite plus as it reduces the possible damage.
It’s a weird one, isn’t it. Will the people of Greater Manchester be saying ‘Welcome Back, Andy’ should he lose it it, or will it be ‘Cheeky deserting bastard’ for him turning his back on the electorate?Seems like another nonsense rule for the establishment .
It’s no wonder these people are so out of touch with the real world.
The people of Greater Manchester will have no option other then to suck it up unfortunately. It’s a weird one, isn’t it. Will the people of Greater Manchester be saying ‘Welcome Back, Andy’ should he lose it it, or will it be ‘Cheeky deserting bastard’ for him turning his back on the electorate?
I want the best person for the job.He doesn’t but I personally would prefer that whoever has that position is a Mancunian.
Don’t think that’s correct.
It’s akin to applying for a new job; you don’t lose the one you’re currently employed to do.It’s a weird one, isn’t it. Will the people of Greater Manchester be saying ‘Welcome Back, Andy’ should he lose it it, or will it be ‘Cheeky deserting bastard’ for him turning his back on the electorate?
It’s akin to applying for a new temporary job; you don’t lose the one you’re currently employed to do.
Yep, I was born there but I wouldn't vote for her or Starmer in a million years.Fair enough but the leader (or in this case) a potential leader of a party would attract a higher % of the vote, kind of lifts the profile of an area.
However, I wouldn’t follow that criteria as the MP who represents the constituency where I live is Angela Rayner. During last weeks elections only the house she owns had “Vote Labour” posters on it, non of her neighbours showed any support which tells a story in an area that’s been Labour for as long as I remember.
Oh, I don’t know. If Burnham campaigns on re-industrialisation and jobs for the area, the old Labour DNA will be awakened. However, if Reform campaign on him wanting back in the EU and open borders, that will awaken other areas of their psyche and cause huge conflict in the electorate. And that’s where the risk comes, and if he did lose, could he really keep his job as GMM?The people of Greater Manchester will have no option other then to suck it up unfortunately.
I don’t think the Wigan folk will be daft enough to vote him in for a fortnight tbh..
I asked this very question yesterday to a guy far more knowledgeable than me. He had no fucking clue.
Yes, but the whole world doesn’t know about it.It’s akin to applying for a new job; you don’t lose the one you’re currently employed to do.
Times also reporting Ange turned down the Health Secretary job, not wanting to help Starmer with the left wing of the party and signalling she thinks this a dying government. Just watched a new TV Ad for a Home Removals company featuring 10, Downing St - they are closing in!Looks like Streeting (and Reform obviously) will be returning to the Brexit war. Burnham, as a Remainer and Rejoiner, will be put on the spot in a very strong Leave area. Be interesting how he handles this, in the General Election Sunak forced Starmer and Reeves to promise no personal tax rises. It's turning into one of those great Shakespearean plots, not only a next Prime Minister subplot but also a Rejoin subplot.
He wont have helped himself by mentioning brexit the other day. That constituency voted to leave.Yep, I was born there but I wouldn't vote for her or Starmer in a million years.
It will be hilarious if Burnham risks everything on this and fails.
By much ?He wont have helped himself by mentioning brexit the other day. That constituency voted to leave.
A stupid thing for him to bring up, they don't help themselves sometimes. Concentrate on winning the seat daft sod.He wont have helped himself by mentioning brexit the other day. That constituency voted to leave.
I have a mate in Wigan and he said to me the other week that its quite a strong reform area nowadays.By much ?
