Man City & Man Utd both with Nike?

Would it be that surprising if united ended up getting a random American kit manufacturer to give them lots of money like liverpool did ?

If Nike tailor our kits then I'll be ok with it. I just don't want the same old generic crap they churn out for other Clubs.

I read this week that when clubs switch to Nike has an impact on whether they get the generic kits. Everton's deal was signed too late so they got the basic Nike templates in their colours. Arsenal, Barcelona and United are all on long term deals so that's why they have unique kits (although shite in United's case and Barca's depending on your taste). City have agreed the deal over a year in advance so I can't see us getting a unikit.

Nike sells Umbro to Iconix Brand Group for $225m

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-20075681

Sportswear giant Nike has agreed a deal to sell UK sports brand Umbro to US clothing company Iconix Brand Group for $225m (£140m).

Nike announced earlier this year it was looking to sell the Cheadle, Manchester-based firm, which specialises in football kits.

The deal is expected to go through by the end of the year.

Iconix owns a number of clothing brands, including Madonna's Material Girl and rapper Jay-Z's Rocawear.

"It is difficult to divest any business, but this action will enable us to focus on our highest-potential growth opportunities," said Nike boss Mark Parker.

"Umbro has a great heritage but, ultimately, as our category has evolved, we believe Nike football can serve the needs of footballers on and off the pitch."

Nike bought Umbro, which lost the contract to make the England football team's kit to Nike in August, in 2007.

Iconix boss Neil Cole said he was "thrilled" to be taking over the brand. "Umbro is an exciting acquisition with more than 30 licensees in over 100 countries with a devout following."

I prefer Adidas but it is already dicided so am not gonna say anything, but hope Nike not to make any City kit like rags'. Their kit looks like a tablecloth.

Re: Man City & Man Utd both with Nike?

Did anyone notice the board of advertisements behind Mancini and the players had a Nike ball on instead of the Umbro logo?

Cutting all ties with Umbro already

Thanks i knew i read this somewhere

Spoke with the Premier League representative from Nike yesterday while I was working at the Villa V Norwich game, and I asked about City's deal and future kits.

He wouldn't give much away, other than City have full control of design and direction of all kits and clothing, Nike have spent a lot of time looking into the history and tradition of City's kits, and he said we will not be disappointed as fans with next seasons kits, and the manager has also had involvement in the designs.

Can't see why Mancini would have anything to do with the design.
