Man City reach Sturridge impasse

Yeah. Looks like Etuhu. I was surprised that a few other squad members weren't there - but then maybe they all know they are on the way out. Thought Elano would have been asked to stay - just to be there (or to say goodbye?), although I guess with the Confederation Cup coming up he may only have a few days free.

Does anyone know if Sturridge was ever going to be presented with the Young Player award at the game?

Whats the consensus on whose fault this is? - aside from DS being a greedy cnut. Personally I think this issue is a testament as to why its so important that we have continuity in the management of this club. I'm not a big Hughes fan at all but if he'd of been in charge last season I don't think we'd be in this situation.

All these rumours of him thinking he's billy big bollocks started after the fans chanted his name and PEarce brought him on against Reading. He did nothing then, and hasn't really progressed in the 3 seasons since.

Cheerio Danny.

Well, City have proven to be not stingy in the last couple of years. Micah, Johnno & now Ireland's contract pretty much prove this (Ireland yet to be finished though). Micah and Johnno finished a season coming across as future stars (Micah got the youngest ever defensive callup for England) and got decent money offered because of that, Sturridge to me has come across as "meh, wait and see" and his contract offer probably reflected that.

I'm betting he wants to be on the same money (or similar) to Johnno & Richards when the plain fact is he hasn't produced the goods over a season.

Not bothered any more, if he can't try and work for a couple of years on £25k/WEEK and prove he deserves the big bucks I don't care if he leaves.

Saw him talking to some people before the Bolton game outside the main entrance, and after he got in his White Audi S3 and drove away. + He wasn't in the lap after the match.
Says it all. A 19 year old kid, with an apparently shitty attitude, driving around in a flash motor. And he's looking for a big increase in his salary. Ever heard of the word recession Daniel? It'd be bad enough if he'd done anything to actually warrant a pay rise.

That's the key to me. He's not proved anything yet, but I'm sure once he proves himself over a full season he'll get similar financial recognition to Micah and Johnno. £25k/WEEK should be the absolute maximum at this stage of his career. In fact, 10-15k would be much more appropriate.

Its a shame to think that he wants the cash more than he wants to stay at our club. Whatever wage he has been offered he'd hardly be on the breadline - 20 grand a week is over a million a year.

Maybe we are all getting him wrong and it's got nothing to do with the cash and is more about him actually starting games. If that is the case then he needs to lower his sights because if he goes to one of the clubs he is being constantly linked with a move to the competition for a starting place is going to be hotter than it is at City.

Decent player with a great first touch. Good eye for a pass at times. Unfortunate that City might (probably will lose him). Good Luck to him if he's off, shame about the way it's panned out. A lot of talk about his attitude etc. If he's turned down 40k a week then he really must not watch to be at City.

Unless he put himself in the same bracket as MJ?? Not sure.

Good Luck Studge, hope you do alright wherever you go. Just don't give City any bad jibes, they've been good to you.

He's not turned down £40k he wants a contract for around £35k to £40k.

The Academy product, who has scored six career goals from a dozen starts and 19 substitute appearances, is out of contract in the summer and believed to be seeking a pay rise that will put him in the £35,000-£40,000 per week bracket.

For what exactly?

Sorry, but I cannot beleieve anyone thinks he's worth that srt of money. He's done nothing to earn it. The world's gone mad!
I'm going to be so gutted if we lose the lad he is a quality player.

Hows do you all know what he's been offered what he's turned down and what his reasons are for wanting to leave?
