Does anyone know what went wrong in Germany?

Frankfurt were chasing promotion (that they eventually got) and didn't want to tinker with their formula too much so he didn't get much of a chance. Understandable but events like this really annoy me, why do we agree to these loans of highly talented prospects without some guarantees of football. Weiss wasted half a season of his development in much the same way at Bolton so it's good that Abu's loan at Frankfurt was cut short.

Thanks LC,sounds like poor decision making by all concerned,as you say, thankfully rectified.

It wouldn't be fair to anyone at the club that is loaning the player if the loanee is "guaranteed" a certain amount of football.

The idea of a loan of a good prospect is for it to be mutually beneficial (especially with partner clubs), we wouldn't be the first club to demand regular first team football for a loanee. If the club can't guarantee him regular football then that's fine, the player doesn't have to go there and can go somewhere else. What's the point in sending a player to a team with inferior facilities to sit around and train when he could at our club?

Every time United sends a player to one of it's partner clubs like Antwerp, the kid play regardless of how good or not (ie. Dong) he is. The primary club gives money to the partner club every year for this privilege, which is why Frankfurt, who are supposed to have an agreement with us of a similar style, not playing Abu was annoying but thankfully we were able to cut short the loan. United have sent over 30 players there because of the trust between the two clubs (Antwerp guaranteeing football, United guaranteeing players and financial aid), something we'd hope to build with these clubs we're supposed to be partnered with.

John Guidetti and he helped secure Champions League Football for them. Vladmir Weiss had a decent run of game for both Rangers and Espanyol. Joe Hart had a good spell at Birmingham.
