It's a difficult call for Pellegrini, and I don't envy him with the choices he has to make. Prior to today, it seemed straightforward that we had to play one up front, but our performance coupled with Barca's loss might tempt him to go for it.

Toure's absence is a huge blow, and we've been pretty abject playing 442 in Europe. I think a lot depends on Milner's fitness. I think if available we'll play 4231:

Hart
Sagna
Kompany
Demichelis
Clichy
Fernando
Fernandinho
Milner
Nasri
Silva
Aguero
I agree with all of this. The Toure/Milner issue will give them a big advantage, an advantage I am not sure we can compensate for. They both should be fine for the return leg, but even then we will need 1 nil lead going into that game. If we pull this off the confidence boost going into the rest of the season will be immense.

I agree with all of it too, except for asking why Sagna and not Zabba? Zabba looked on top form today

I don't think it's a case of going for it. MP likes to play 4-4-2. It's just that recently with injuries
his hands have been tied. I said on the Newcastle post match, that i noticed Edin & Kun dropping
deeper and giving the midfield more help today and i'm sure this could have been with the Barca
game in mind.

Today Newcastle left space for us to exploit. Against Barca our procession will be half what it was today so we need to keep things tight at the full back positions. Sagna, like Clichy (rather than Kolarov) will not bomb forward so much and leave us exposed.

Barcelona have been terrible in the last year or so, however they have got suaraz. We need kompany to be on top form for the match, I still think manchester city have got this one.

I want us to take the game to Barcelona this time. We were too cagey last time.
So let them adapt to us, not the other way round.

Possible Lineup's for Barca

Lineup's for the upcoming Champions League match vs Barcelona? Your Say and Predictions.

Re: Possible Lineup's for Barca

Well in my view we need a midfield centre 3 with fernando playing the makelele role in Europe and normally that would be Fernandinho and yaya in front. With yaya out and jimmy injured it would probably be fernando lampard and Fernandinho for me. I would bring in clichy and go one up front with silva and nasri supporting aguero.

For Liverpool on sun would play the XI that beat Newcastle

My thoughts are the same. If we go 4-4-2 with both ferns we aren't going to see any of the ball to be able to feed 2 strikers. Need 4-2-3-1 for this.
I'd take 0-0 at home.

Re: Possible Lineup's for Barca

This is just one of the many iterations that I think could be played.

Hart

Zabba Kompany Demichelis Clichy

Fernando Fernandinho

Navas Silva Nasri

Aguero

This is if Jimmy isn't fit to play. If he is, I'd be tempted to leave Navas out of this lineup.

Another one I could see happening is:

Hart

Zabba Kompany Mangala Clichy

Fernando Fernandinho

Nasri Lampard Silva

Aguero

Your second is spot on in my view
