People talk about a "lack of tempo".
What we need is to draw the defence out by holding the ball deeper or shooting more often from longer range. Only by drawing deep defences out will we create space behind them to attack.

But on the plus side, 3 points!
That's the point. They aren't going to come out, they have no reason to. They start pressing about 10 yards passed the 18 then stop. So we have players like Yaya and Silva that are decent at breaking that stuff down. You act as if teams want to hold a high line against us but can't because we are keeping them from coming out. That's not the case, they are just staying still and waiting for a point.

What we started doing towards the end was GIVING THEM the ball, this means they come out of their box thinking they have a chance of scoring thus giving us more room behind.

For claiming it wasn't awful?

Laughing out fucking loud at that!

There's no context anymore for some people. I know what an awful performance looks like, I've been watching City for over 20 years, that was not one.

Any game that you comprehensively dominate possession, produce 10 shots on target to their one and deservedly bag 3 points, cannot, by any logical mind be proclaimed to be an awful performance. Like I already said, hyperbole and exaggeration are off the charts again.

Now shove the specs up your arse (linked from the sun no less)

If we don't score 5 against the bottom of the league we are shite. It's bluemoon law
Don't be silly. I'm pretty sure having 3 shots on target against a team who shipped 5 last game and sit bottom is hardly going to have you thinking its a brilliant performance. Maybe the average performances this season have lowered expectations

Where you getting that from?

It was 10 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20738298

And I haven't seen anyone saying it was a brilliant performance but we still dominated by any measure you care to name.

They will have to come out to close down shots. We rarely shoot from long range but just a few shots on target early will scare opposition into coming out and closing us down.

Exactly, I am not trying to argue we played amazing today, I am just trying to bring up the fact that people freak out and are saying we played worse than we ever have before when we realistically had a 6/10 performance.

From the match day centre on the official site. Sounds right from where I was sat in the ground.

Three points is three points and every game over this busy Xmas period matters it doesn't matter how we did it now we look to the game against the Mackems and try and get them back for last seasons lucky and not at all deserved win over us!

Like I said earlier the average performances this season have dampened peoples expectations.

6/10 in a game where we hardly tested the keeper. Really?

BBC website says we only hand 62% of possession but the OS says we had 75%...hmm
The BBC stats are always wrong. They say we had 10 shots on target instead of 3 on the OS

First half wasnt too bad, sergio coming deep and linking up with silva. again having non-attacking full backs hurt us as we kept putting poor crosses in. Very poor performance second half. Wrong changes from the mgr. ya ya appalling again.

But we won...

Similar thoughts although I'm not keen on Sergio dropping deep as it took him until near the end of the game before he had his first attempt on goal.

Agreed about Yaya, sick of him trying these stupid passes that just smack of laziness.

Bob left Rekik on for 20 mins too long, I know you're not a big fan of it but we should have gone 3 at the back far earlier - I'd have brought Jimmy on the right and moved Zab to the left.

Crazy playing 2 defensive midfielders and 4 at the back against a team with 10 behind the ball.

TBH until his goal, Barry was utterly woeful and gave away the ball more than I've ever seen him.

Nasty was great, was impressed at how dominant in the air he was against a bruiser of a forward.

Oh, and never a foul for the goal.
Yeah, that was a game for 3 at the back as a change but we had nobody in the squad with the ability to play wing back and cross the ball. Did you notice the formation change at half time? 442 with Barry wide left. It didn't work. Bad change , and it was no game for edin either. Zab is a real problem in these 10 behind the ball games. For all his defensive ability he can't cross or get to the line.
Theres still no change with your crusade against zab is there
Fucking sad!

This is a serious question, can anyone tell me when the bluemoon forum was started ?.

It used to be a proper old-fangled message board before it became a forum (around 2004/5 maybe?) - I first got the internet in 2002 and I'm pretty sure it was up then.

No width today and the fullbacks didnt overlap enough especially rekik who offered zero going forward. I actually felt a bit sorry for him.

We were poor today. Yaya was dreadful and silva average and when those two don't click we dont play well.

Readings time wasting was a disgrace but it's the refs job to sort that out and he didn't. I thought Dean was poor today and he is usually ok.

We won't get away playing like that agains better sides. In the last 15 mins reading could have won that game and what a fcking disaster that would have been.

Still we won so alls good but big improvement needed.

No nee for Garcia and Barry so milner in for Garcia, clichy back and kompany back next game please.

Sinclair showed exactly why he doesn't get picked

tbf to the lad he barely gets a chance even today of all games he still didnt get a start. Hes hardly gonna be on top form ??

Thought we were excellent first half, the passing was as sharp as when we were at our peak last season in my opinion.

The second half a bit of anxiety crept in I think and it was getting a bit desperate and it was then we needed to change the plan and start getting some good crosses in for 5zeko when he came on.

Did notice the chap talking at half time about Tevez and I'm sure he said he'd scored four times in the last tweny games, two of which were penalties, which is very poor for him,he used to make goals out of absolutely nothing and that's what we're missing at the moment.

The only other thing I'd say we need to do is shoot, for fucks sake shoot.

3 points but fuck me

This is one hell of a bad patch we are going through, the perfromances this season have mostly been well below par
