Man City vs Reading - Post Match Discussion

Pheeeww, cheeers Gareth. Just wish we could play fotball from the off like we did against Newcastle. The game could of been won a lot sooner.

That was probably the best parking of the bus we've had at the Etihad. If only we would shoot outside the box more often. However we worked hard and got what we deserved.

They parked a bus but fucking hell. Wake up lads for this run of games.

Someone has got to during the game say stop trying to walk it in and just start hitting shots. When they are all stood there in the box there can be a hand ball, deflection or anything. Instead we keep trying to mug them off and end up with nothing at the end.

There is a reason Dzeko has scored the goals he has when he comes on and that is because we have struggled to break down teams and when he comes on we start going direct and hitting the ball into the box which he gets on the end of or in this case Barry does. I am all for playing "tiki taka" but some game you just can't do it and it needs to change.

Thankfully we got the points as that would have been just tragic.

They were playing the Chelsea Champions League formation. At one point Pog forgot he was playing football and ordered some curry.

In all seriousness, though, the official stats from many sources are:

City - Reading

Possession
73 - 27

Shots
21 - 5

Corners
12 - 3

That says it all. Generally, the only chances they got were from mistakes or slack passing (which happened far too often).

We seem to be going back to the 10-11 season when we often played down to opposition (motivation may be our challenge).

Reading need to seriously ask themselves why they couldn't raise their game to that level against United the other week , instead of playing like a team beaten before they even started?????

Yet another case of a side rolling over to accomodate the rags ....

One day we'll learn that trying to walk the ball into the net isn't gonna work every week , and we just didn't test that goalkeeper enough out there today .......

very fortunate to get all three points today , very fortunate.

To those saying we looked woeful, really? Honest question. We were up their a$$es for 90+ minutes. Some days its just tough to put the ball in the net. It's the nature of the game. If you want perfection don't waste your time. I thought Silva looked great, Nastasic is going to be great, Zab does what he does, Aguero looks to be on point and in great form, sometimes it's just hard to score. We did what champions are supposed to do today, great result.

How many quality saves was Federici forced to make in the whole match?
Yes we were basically camped in their 3rd but why wouldn't we be when a shit pub team decides to play a 9-0-1.

It was a fucking shite performance, trying to pass it into the net, we got lucky.

We didn't get lucky, Reading were lucky to keep us out for 93 minutes. We got what we deserved and so did they.

We had 3 shots on target in total, yeah we put them to the sword.

wish we had a bit more width, that is all, a wins a win. 3 points, move on to the next one.

Merry Christmas Bluemooners

Stop moaning about Reading just defending, they have been leaking goals lately, it's up to us to be more direct. We couldn't half do with a decent winger.

A late minute winner is more enjoyable than 6-0 for me.

Thanks for Silva & Barry for saving the day.
