Please explain where the width and pace go against a team defending the 18 yard box with 8 players

If you get wide and behind them (with pace) you turn defenders and get them facing their own goal. A ball whipped across the face of the goal when you are running back towards your own goal is very very difficult to defend - you do very well to avoid giving away a corner, and there is a good chance of an own goal as well as a blue shirt bing on the end.

When you try and play through that many players it is very difficult because there are so many of them in a small space - very little room to thread through balls for runners

Not arguing that point. How do you get in behind a team defending the 18 yard box with 8 defenders

Think back to Shreks second goal against us,exactly as you say.

we dont park the bus at home

Nevertheless we still had 3 men on our left hand side, trying to stop a decent enough winger and he did exactly had he had to,find an opponent.Very easy if you`ve got pace and skill as Valencia had on that shit day.

There is no game plan.

They have to fiddle with the ball around 40 metrs out, while the opposition gets eight or nine back. They won't shoot. Zabaleta and Tevez have shown what happens when you do actually shoot.

i like this one your wasted in your job

Trouble is as fans we can all see this, apart from the manager and the players !!

Small point, but two players central to the winner were Milner and Dzeko - Mancini subs

i must say "i prefer big sam's/pullis tactic's hoof it in the box and hope" ;)

Important 3 points to keep us in touch at the top.

Mancini needs to look at the tempo of the team. For me we do not move the ball quick enough across the pitch and are too pedestrian too many times in the game. We moved the ball a lot quicker last season and this helped to open defences up.

Fantastic ball from Milner in the build up to the goal

Remember his fantastic ball last season against Villa from the left hand side out to the right ?? He then moved in and scored a great goal from outside of the box.He really can put a ball about.

We also moved the ball a lot quicker against united and Newcastle but for some reaso yesterday went back to the old slow Predicitble pace. Why?

73% possession in the 1st half, 75 in the second, the reading tactic was to hold out, they didn't and the Gaz Baz goal could be very important....

Come on Swansea, come on Michu

The pundits seem to be saying that the cross for Barry was made by Silva,at the game I thought it was Sinclair.
Great win at the end of a long day.

Because we were playing against a back 9.

Newcastle and Utd actually tried to attack every now and again. Totally different games.

It was a cracker of a cross from Silva. I just dont know why we dont mix it up earlier by chucking crosses in instead of tippy tappy all the time. It works as defenders panic.

Wasn't the best game to watch but we got the three points which were vital. It's good to grind out results in games like this to keep us challenging at the top.

There was a guy sat a few seats from me who muttered "I'm bored watching this" in the second half, which made me smile thinking back to some of the shit games under people like Pearce. We've come a long way.

On another note, that must be one of the worst turn outs of away fans I've seen since we moved to the new stadium. How many did they bring with them, about 300?

Reading are not a big club There were more than I expected to be honest given the time of year
