Man City vs Reading - Post Match Discussion

Can't believe half the lot in the match day thread are city fans. Reading, like everyone else when they come to ours, raised their game, stuck ten behind the ball, and wasted plenty of time. Admittedly, we need a plan B for when teams choke the middle of the pitch and park the bus... More balanced wing play perhaps.

Over all, deserved. Weren't at our best but dictated play for the majority of the match.

Oh, and never a fucking foul for the goal for those numpties claiming as such. If you're a defender making no attempt to win the ball in the box and try to obstruct an attacking play, that's what you get.

Get the fuck in.

Phewwwwww! :-D..I have never seen a team park the bus so much! Reading didn't deserve nothing, a fine defensive performance?!!! 10 men behind the ball??! obviously we need to work on exploiting that, because they wont be the only team who play to defend this season. Also why can't our strikers just POWER one in the back of the net, there's a few times I was thinking SHOOOOT...relief though. I can enjoy my night now!

Barry had a pretty shit game but thank fuck for that. Looking back at it it was a bloody important win, couldn't have afforded to draw to the bottom of the table and 9 points behind United...
Words fail me.

By his standards, he was pretty average. Gave the ball up cheaply too often and looked a little heavy in the legs. But thank god he scored.

We should have scored at least 4 in the first half alone, we are too lax in these games v poorer opposition. This could have been catastrophic without another last minute winner, we just don't have that cutting edge like last season, I know more and more teams are parking the bus like Reading today but we need a new signing to reinvigorate our attacking play. Looked predictable today, I way praying for a pile driver to get things started.

we do need someone else to come in and give us another dimension. we are being worked out by other teams in the league and that is why we are not in the same form as last season. evolving the side every year has the important benefit of changing the way we play enough to make other teams re-think their strategy against us.

They parked a bus but fucking hell. Wake up lads for this run of games.

Someone has got to during the game say stop trying to walk it in and just start hitting shots. When they are all stood there in the box there can be a hand ball, deflection or anything. Instead we keep trying to mug them off and end up with nothing at the end.

There is a reason Dzeko has scored the goals he has when he comes on and that is because we have struggled to break down teams and when he comes on we start going direct and hitting the ball into the box which he gets on the end of or in this case Barry does. I am all for playing "tiki taka" but some game you just can't do it and it needs to change.

Thankfully we got the points as that would have been just tragic.

When I say this of course it will be "because you're Dzeko fan" - but when we play teams we expect WILL PARK THE BUS - Dzeko needs to start.

You lose some, but you get someone to get on the end of crosses.

Three points the only positive today. I'd like to voice some strong opinions about our "captain" today, but BM being the Church of Yaya I'll let it pass.

Fair point, he was shit today.

To those saying we looked woeful, really? Honest question. We were up their a$$es for 90+ minutes. Some days its just tough to put the ball in the net. It's the nature of the game. If you want perfection don't waste your time. I thought Silva looked great, Nastasic is going to be great, Zab does what he does, Aguero looks to be on point and in great form, sometimes it's just hard to score. We did what champions are supposed to do today, great result.

How many quality saves was Federici forced to make in the whole match?
Yes we were basically camped in their 3rd but why wouldn't we be when a shit pub team decides to play a 9-0-1.

It was a fucking shite performance, trying to pass it into the net, we got lucky.

And what's with having literally no attacking player on the left for the majority of the game? They only had to defend 2/3 of the width of the field! Ha.

No one would pass to Rekik except for Garcia.

Pretty much as bad as I can remember him playing for us.

That was the only way Reading had a chance of getting a result and we should have known that.

Don't let the 3 points fool you, we were pedestrian at best for most that match and only when we started being more aggressive did we look like snatching it.

We simply have to do better, passing ad nauseum won't work every time.

Oh, and a quick word on Rekik. He didn't have much to do, Reading had no intention of going forward and our team had no intention of passing to him. What little he was able to do he did well enough, more than once was he in a good position and no one dared pass.
