Adam Johnson used to score more than Silva and could beat a man.

Makes you wonder how Johnson has ended up battling relegation like Gio did and how Silva is the one starring in trophy winning sides at both club and international level. Funny that.

Are u actually comparing Johnston to Kingladze ?

2 players with nothing more than a handful of decent performances at the top level. What's the problem?

Certainly less of a gap between Gio/Johnson than there is Gio/Silva. The former 2 were never consistent enough to sustain their places at top clubs and both of them have at one point found themselves on the bench at clubs fighting relegation. Because they don't/didn't contribute consistently.

Silva on the other hand, does.

If you're playing a five man midfield it would be

Toure Silva Bell Kinkladze Elano.

Tony Towers ready to come on!

Erm, Peter Doherty?!

Plus I'd have about a dozen players ahead of Elano.

I struggle to compare players in different positions, but there's one guy who genuinely has me watching in awe; and that's Yaya. However, he's equally frustrating to watch at times so I can't name him outright for this. There's also the fact that I'm not a longstanding City fan so I know fuck-all anyways.

What I can say is he'd be top of my list for world's greatest if he could bring at least his B game on a consistent basis.

So now it's not only kinkladze who would start in our current side it's also Elano!

You have to wonder why we were so shit for years with this stable of world class superstars playing for us ;-)

I think as the best player in our best ever team, the award has to go to Silva.

Kinkladze's display against Newcastle at home was definitely the best PERFORMANCE by a City player I've ever seen, but that's just it - he was brilliant for one season only. If he had moved (to Liverpool , say) after the first relegation, I'm convinced he would now be thought of as a Premier League great. The lower leagues didn't suit him at all - he got kicked to shit, lost motivation, lost form and fitness and was a shadow of his former self even by the time we sold him.

So we all agree that Gio's performance against Newcastle was the best ever since 82 in a blue shirt , am happy with that
