Sorry to disavow you, but you would think that the streets of the country were rolling in blood, the vast majority of people go through their lives untouched by violent crime or any type of crime come to think about it!

Don't mistake the news with reality

While I'd agree most of us don't suffer violent crime I wouldn't go so far as to say the vast majority don't suffer from crime i'd think if you asked around there wouldn't be many not had a car window put through,cars scratched or nicked, houses or garages broke in stuff nicked etc not a regular occurrence I'll grant you but not many untouched I'm afraid.
