Man notified of burglary via app goes home murders burglar [Liverpool]

Not sure that matters in the UK. They’ve seen them break in, arm themselves with knives and used them to kill somebody. That’s premeditated murder unless they can use self defence.

I doubt many countries look to Florida as an example to set their laws by.
Ha! I wasn't suggesting they should.
They armed themselves because let's face it they have no idea what shit the burglars are armed with..... that's what the court has to decide if the intent was there prior or self defence in a struggle....

Although it’s suspected he would have died from the stab wound to his brain the stab to the neck was fatal blow and was delivered outside the house. That blow to the neck is not someone defending their house or in fear of their lives.

Also going armed to the house is surely going to be going, with intent. Might get away with that but though.

I suspect most people wouldn't want to confront burglars without a weapon

It was OTT of course but live by the sword

Charged with murder? He’s the victim here, it’s not his fault!

someone invades you have to get rid anyway. Same as someone invades your country.

Im never really surprised by the amount of people on here who think you should be able to murder someone for any sort of crime, but did you lot even read the story?
Prosecutors allege Townsend and Cunningham left the scene, but returned to the property, where the former stabbed Mr Brophy in the jugular vein

The guy stabbed the Burglar in the eye, leaving a broken off piece of knife in his brain, then left, came back and murdered a defenceless man trying to run away.

They weren't the victims, and they weren't defending their property. It's murder plain and simple.

Crazy isn't it though. I get murdering the theif in the heat of the moment defending your home. But what he did is more like a Saw movie the wrong un. Must have previous history between em.
deffo

or they've been watching too much Top Boy......fam.

In a bit.

I’m sure that’s what their defence will say - and I would likely arm myself if confronted by a burglar in my house. However that’s not what’s happened here - they left a place of safety and, having armed themselves, drove to tackle the burglars. Surely the correct course of action, having no risk to your own person or anyone else, would have been to call dibble and claim off the insurance for owt they got.

Fearing for your own safety is going to be hard for them to prove when they knowingly put themselves in harms way. So what, they’ll probably say they were angry, but being incandescent with rage probably isn’t a good defence for a murder charge.

We can all have some sympathy with their actions but that doesn’t make them legal.
