Anyone else struggling to get up for this? Can't remember the last time a derby felt so...lacking edge. Will change come kick off of course, but I 100% miss the normal build up. Chatting to mates, strangers, colleagues at work, family etc. Basically no give or take at all with anyone. Left it just feeling like any other game to an extent.
Yeah, normally I'm a bag of nerves in the week building up to a derby but haven't really felt any anxiety about it this time. Maybe that'll change tomorrow, but it's hard to treat this season the same as others. There's no getting away from the fact that it means a bit less at the moment.

Same for me, for reasons I have talked about elsewhere.

Trying my best to get myself in the mood, though.

Stones’ comments about doing everything he can to give Pep a “problem” — a sort of personal battle cry — has actually helped a bit, funny enough. Everyone loves a good redemption story and I genuinely hope John gets one.

Perhaps tomorrow morning the butterflies will come out of their stomach cocoons and the bees will start buzzing around my head, as they have before derbies past.

We shall see.

It’s happening at different stages for people, I was done mid October and really contemplating the merit of how the game has/is evolving, then, and I’m not sure what it was within the game itself, but the dippers game reignited something...

We all hate change, it’s a trait of most human beings and us, along with most fans, are struggling with enforced change, that’s the sticky wicket for most, however, and this isn’t me preaching but it’s important we remember how far we have come in less than a decade, we are privileged if you ask me as we are debating most weeks on twiglet legs getting game, or Jesus being the heir apparent, it’s not a bad position in the grand scheme of things, now is it?

Passion can subside in most aspects of our life but it comes again, and I’m full of the joys of watching us develop once more...

tomorrow could conceivably be a ‘passion killer’ but that’s the beauty of football, we’re are all fickle fans at the end of the day but the tribalism remains, tomorrow is exciting as any derby, just remember the dog shit we had from these twats for 25 years, that alone will stir the emotion...

on that note, I’m going for an emphatic 4-1 and Gabby running them ragged (:

Go on, lad, show that you are well and truly back tomorrow.

Im glad he is feeling that way, but I do wish he'd done that interview after the first big game in his comeback and not before a game that will be a lot more difficult with much more pressure and against much more dangerous forwards than he has faced so far.

I guess it shows his confidence is through the roof though.

in a game like this Fern more likely to get sent
I wish that were true but they clearly aren’t shit. They’re above us in the PL for a start and, as you say, up their game when playing us.
Right, last season we were plagued with injuries which put us at a disadvantage when we played the cnuts.
The rags would not be above us were it not for things like an iffy pen against West Brom or one given after the final whistle.
This season we are more or less full strength so have nothing much to worry about with the caveat that the officials do their jobs correctly.
Let's show no mercy.

I can understand the apprehension surrounding the timing of the interview but, given everything that has come before, I think we should be happy he gave an interview conveying this confidence at all. I am not sure these comments show it through the roof, but the confidence he has in his ability does seem to be substantially better than was likely the case just a few months ago and that bodes well, given I maintain he is very much a confidence player. I am fairly sure the club’s sport psychologists will have been working with him to achieve this state.

I just hope he starts tomorrow and plays well to further solidify it (@argyle ;-) ).

Ederson,
Walker Stones Dias Mendy
Debruyne Rodri Gundagan
Marhez Jesus Sterling
If that’s the team we have To go with it but this isn’t Burnley or Fulham this is Man Utd and the bragging rights that come with it . Very worried about this game because they have pace and that midfield of ours is very pedestrian. Would like to see sterling and Torres on either flank or foden drifting in.

Despite the fact that we're on year 8 of superiority over Man Utd we are all just as fucking nervous as we were the previous (insert your age) years.

Well, i know I am. And that superiority comment of mine is a fucking jinx if ever i heard one.

Balls to this, we'll get walloped coz of their pace up front (reverse jinx!)

We shouldn’t be nervous about them because we are far better and have a much stronger squad but our problem is that we need 20 shots to score a goal. Get that right and we are levels above .

I think, because United have been slow starters in their last few games, I think they will be up for this from the start. If we can score early, they will drop their heads. We can then wait for them to over commit and hit them hard. Come on blues!

A couple of seasons ago, I’d find it easy to pick the lineup and also what Guardiola would choose. Currently, I have no idea!

Not so much for me. Win this one and its the biggest sign we've turned the corner after lyon and the initial underwhelming start to the season. Big test for Ruben, rodri, possibly stones, arguably raheem, even pep after they did the double on us last year. But we're playing well and we can take them apart if we get it right. Game on if we do them
