Manchester’s Changing Skyline

The amount of wasteland and ghost car parks on that side of the city centre is insane. It’s going to take MCC and the Far East Consortium/FEC decades to redevelop it all.

Victoria Riverside construction drone update. Watch via the link.

This is a return to the Victoria riverside view apartment blocks that is being constructed along the railway approach to Victoria station in Manchester. Filmed late December 2023 it shows the progress the contractors have made with the exterior of the buildings.

My last Manchester Skyline of 2023.... i've been shooting this ever-changing City from the same view in my office since Beetham Tower was being constructed..... definitely become a skyscraper City since then....

Hope it is okay for this thread.

All Manchester, Manchester skyline and Manchester property developments pictures are always okay for the thread. :-)

A bit annoyed with myself. My payment never went through for my Huddersfield ticket in SSL1, so I bought a ticket in CBL3 instead. I then changed my mind and got my ticket transferred back to SSL1, which was still available. I could have taken some city centre skyline pictures from the top of the CB spirals today. Arrrgh! :-( If City are at home in the next round of the FA Cup I’ll transfer my ticket to CBL3 and get some city centre skyline pictures, time of day and weather permitting.

If anyone is into architecture in general there is a brilliant Instagram site called Lost Architecture.

It features fantastic old buildings that have been lost. Sadly most of the buildings have been demolished to make way for other buildings. Each building is named, it's history, and if it has been demolished or is thankfully still standing.

There's loads more buildings as you scroll down the page.

Progress is being made in Manchester at the Downing site at First street at the end of Princess way. This site is visible from the Mancunian way. Some of the floors and glass facade has been attached to the concrete core.

Approved in 2020, the proposed five-building Electric Park in New Islington has undergone a drastic rethink in terms of its aesthetic, while more amenities have also been added to the scheme under revised plans.

General Projects is seeking fresh planning consent for the 350,000 sq ft all-electric office campus, having opted to swap out the modern industrial aesthetic – originally proposed through the use of coloured aluminium cladding, glazed windows, and expressed structural elements – for a more traditional look.

Screen grabbed the CGI’s from the PA and made them brighter. And zoomed into the 1st CGI. Better looking than the same CGI’s on PNW.

Development managers Bankfoot APAM and Catella APAM are working with land owner Greater Manchester Pension Fund to deliver the £200m Soapworks project and have now submitted a planning application for the scheme to Salford City Council.

Three residential blocks of 33, 17, and 10 storeys are proposed for the existing surface car park adjacent to the Manchester Ship Canal.
Meanwhile, a vacant commercial building known as Block D is to be redeveloped into a 130,000 sq ft office scheme. A three-storey upward extension is planned for that building.
