Manchester’s Changing Skyline

But from a purely selfish POV, I really liked this building (was more of a feeling rather than appreciative of the architecture!)

They should have retained the tower if possible. It would have made a good 360 viewing platform. :-)

Crazy how they're now knocking down a fair amount of recent buildings (hesitate to use the word architecture).

Most of the old office buildings are no longer energy efficient. And they don't offer a good working environment. Given the choice of a full refurbishment or a new build, most office property developers seem to be choosing a new build, especially if they have a signed prelet.

I have to be honest, there is some dreadful architecture around Salford Quays.

Salford City Council, Peel Holdings, and various property developers have made a right pigs ear of Salford Quays.

It could have been completely different if there had been a proper development framework and well thought out and designed offices and residential developments. But there never is with Peel Holdings. The same thing is happening with Pomona Island, which will be another missed opportunity.

Taken this afternoon from the back car park at Salford Quays.

An absolute cracker for Stockport.

The 76-apartment development would be located on the site of the former George pub, closed since 2017.

Altrincham-based Provincial Land is behind the 16-storey development, designed by Ollier Smurthwaite Architects.

Chester Road into the city centre is going to look even more impressive when all the towers under construction and proposed are built. It already does look impressive to be honest.

The developer has acquired a plot in Cornbrook from Peel Waters and has tabled plans to deliver 229 apartments and an 87-bedroom aparthotel on it.

Forshaw Land & Property’s 24-storey scheme would provide 224 one- to three-bedroom apartments and five, two- three- and four-bedroom penthouse apartments with private terraces.

The four-storey aparthotel would be operated in-house under Forshaw’s Vivere Aparthotels brand.
