Manchester’s Changing Skyline

12,000 people a year move and want to stay in the city centre. Thats 2 blocks a month. i keep reading today they are empty! Try getting one then, one went up for rent last week. 40 enquiries in a single day. Rented out without even a viewing.
Ridiculous amount when I joined the brigade 20 years ago there was hardly anyone living in the city centre now every car park is a high rise!

I am very curious about how many of the more recently announced developments (especially the extended, multiphase proposals) that have not yet broken ground will ever actually be started, much less finished.

And to be frank, some of them are downright ugly. I hope the renovation of the Town Hall is done in a suitable style. It's an iconic building.

A lot of activity in the air but visited Manchester today for the first time in years and it’s a dirty, stinking, tatty unsafe place to visit. No wonder Bernardo wants out, one night in the city centre would be enough for me let alone permanently.

Such a shame as it has potential but the basics are being badly neglected.
