Warrington authority has lent a total of £84.5m to the developer for the construction of its £300m Viadux residential scheme in Manchester.

A report to Warrington Council’s audit and corporate governance committee states that the authority had awarded a further loan of £9.3m to Salboy in the final quarter of 2022.

The second part of the project had previously been planned as a 15-storey office block. However, Salboy is reworking the proposals, pivoting towards a second residential tower understood to be taller than the first.

Property Alliance Group, Moda, McLaren Property, and Kadans Science Partner are all working together to unlock what is a historically rich and vibrant inner-city neighbourhood and the public consultation has launched today.

The wider masterplan, which will create almost 6,000 new jobs for the area, includes 700,000 sq ft of new life sciences space, 1,840 student beds and more than two acres of public realm.

Residents, students and employees are at the heart of our plans, bringing forward a desirable destination to live and work, with pocket parks and landscaped areas as well as fantastic and much-needed amenities.

The Upper Brook Street masterplan will breathe new life into this key central site, and we look forward to working with our partners, the local community and Manchester City Council to bring this forward.
