Manchester City close on Pellegrini (merged)

We all agree that Mancini has his faults, and all of which seem to be the strengths of Pellingini.

Mancini's strengths however are the strengths that have won us trophies.

His attention to detail for defence. We haven't been the leanest defense for the last few years for no reason. Joe picking up goldern glove for the umpteenth time.

We are top of the league in a top 5 teams league. He knows how to out muscle Fergie, Wenger et al.

These attributes are not to be dismissed lightly

WHY CAN'T WE HAVE BOTH OF THEM

I know it was only one game, but I went to the Malaga v Atletico Madrid game and I don't recall a single attempt on goal (by either side) in the whole 90 minutes!!!!
If you were a top class club looking for a new manager and you'd gone to the City v Wigan game recently you'd have signed Martinez rather than Mancini.
Who won?

That doesn't matter.
Results are inconsequential details.
As are trophies.
Nobody in their right mind could argue that Pellegrini is an upgrade on Mancini.
But then this is the parallel universe of football, where disbelief isn't so much suspended as jettisoned and replaced with madness.

They are very selective in their matches
What about if it was a top class club wanting a new manager and they were watching us against the rags away, arsenal away, spurs at home, chelsea home, chelsea in the cup..

I think the point of PB's post was that you can't make assumptions on a manager on just one cherry picked game!

Are we too late to invent a song for our new manager to air at Wembley? Its a hard one to scan - but im sure we can do it...................

pellegrini, wo-oh
he came from chilli-ee to improve us from Mancini..............

ok ok 1st effort.................

I wasn't! Just passing on what happened at the ONE game I've been to at La Rosaleda this season.

Backward step imo he's won & done nothing major. We'd be slated if we sacked Mancini after what he's won & done for us. Stupid move which I can't see going through.
go back 40 odd years when we sacked joe mercer after a very successful spell, we are about to make the same horrendous error.

No we won't!

We have great players, great board and a great future.

You are misguided if you think Mancini is solely the reason for our success.

so are you if you think anyone thinks that. its obviously a number of factors that have brought our success.

mancini has to knit it all together, a job he has done well enough to win us two major trophies and a pop at another.

He isn't an upgrade. Mancini has the better C.V.

However he will set us up better as an attacking unit and I'm willing to stick my neck out and say we will outscore every other team in the league. Our defence won't be as solid given our style of play but we'd 'slaughter' more teams imho.

Man management and a talent for getting the most out of the tools at hand are his best attributes.

I know it was only one game, but I went to the Malaga v Atletico Madrid game and I don't recall a single attempt on goal (by either side) in the whole 90 minutes!!!!

Perhaps we wont need to buy any defenders this summer then - sounds like Pellegrini has that covered...........

Is this why Bail hasn't put the signature on the deal we have in place, is he waiting to see who the manager is. ?

You can, he's called Jupp Heynckes. Bayern are excellent back to front.

So it's gone from us "Outers" being mad to the whole of football being mad, now...

You, CookieMonster and St Helen's Blue represent a cool island of sanity in a turbulent sea of madness.
