This is the sort of thread that is great fo gossip etc but is exactly why I started this thread -

Its not about telling the world about detailed plans, its about keeping the fans informed about what may, can or will happen.

We could be talking about this for nine more years as part of the 10 year plan as we simply dont know.

I for one hope we get a new stadium. When we were still at Maine road of course we a few years of ifs and buts but we new in plenty of time about the move to COMS.

Something more definite now would 'settle nerves' and if were staying put would allow us to put more into the emotional anchor that a permanent home should be.

Perhaps the owners telling us preferred choice A) and alternative choice b) - surely that's not beyond Mr's Cook and Khaldoon?

Time will pass me by said:
I don't think we ever averaged 44k during the 70s and 80s. We were normaly around the mid 30s only peaking at 40k the season we were runners up to Liverpool. After relegation against Luton our crowds went fron 34 to 26k. By the mid 80s in the old division 2 when Maine Road still held nearly 52k we were strugling to average 20k.

Ssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't let any opposition fans know that, they'll start singing "where you when you were shit" at us.

I've been going since 1970, and I only remember the one season where we were nearly 40K (pre CoMs). We did regularly get big crowds, but equally regularly got shit ones too, we've been far more consistent since the move to CoMs.

I'm no historian but I'm sure we've never averaged above 45K until we moved to CoMs, I could look it up, but I'm a lazy bastard.

You have to remember this is now a professionally run club. It doesn't leak, it doesn't expose the inner workings any more. If they consulted us, or made public every single little project they had up their sleeve, it wouldn't work because we'd end up looking stupid. I'm sure the owners have lots of ideas, but they have to explore and develop them first.
As someone said, the steel company have been asked to put in a quote for the cost of steelwork. They might put a quote in, and after careful consideration City may decide it's not worth it, because they've checked all the other quotes, designs and they just don't go for it. In which case, they won't say anything.

The worst thing they could do is come out now and say "yeah, we think we might expand the stadium" and after considering all the options they decide not to, so release a statement saying "yeah, we've decided not to now". It would make us look stupid for releasing the idea in the first place.

I understand what you are saying but I dont see how the club would look 'stupid' for exploring these things and making statements at that stage.

Manchester City are entering a period of consultation with fans and other interested parties to explore the options for COMS, its existing training facilities and club infrastructure.

Amongst ideas being considered are the expansion of COMS, relocation of Carrington and Platt Lane to more central location and the development of a Trans-Pennine Hoverrail service

Allowing the fans to know that there are things being explored and then explaining the reasons why they didnt happen is far better than the world expecting us to do crazy things?

With regards to the OP. I'm working on the development of L.C.C.C. at the moment and I was talking to a foreman of steelcraft today, they are doing the steel construction on site and specialise on stadiums. They did the Emerates stadium, Wembley amongst a few and are also doing the Olympic stadium in London at the moment.... And he told me that they are putting in a quote for expansion work on COM's! He seems to think that we are developing the ground but wasnt aware of when work could start? Not saying this is a go but he was sure that it will happen. Just thought I would pass it on.
P.S. if anyone is interested L.C.C.C. is looking good and it should be fantastic when finished.

Sorry mate he is winding you up, the foreman is not going to know that information, also it would be more than a quote! If it would have got to that stage planning permission would have been sought, a budget estimate may have been given, but there would have had to have been some form of preliminary design first (sketch plans)

When ever a big project is in the offing the trade magazines soon pick up, and so far noboddy has heard anything, and as far as understand no architects or structural engineers have been commissioned, if they had you would have found out by now!
