Manchester City Millions Ruin Football

To be fair to the writer, money is ruining football.

It doesn't matter what way you look at it, oil money won you the FA Cup and will win you the league.

Put the shoe on the other foot - remember when everyone was taking the mick out of Chelsea for winning titles just because they bought their way to it? This is exactly what Man City are doing now.
No? I remember being pretty pleased someone would challenge Arsenal and United to the title

money buys success in football it always has. back even when arsenal bought success, they got herbert chapman and about 7 players from hudderfield town in there search for glory. the only difference now is the players come from far and wide and not just british.

times move on. football is now a global game, no more so than the premiership which is watch by millions every week throughout the world, the top player come because of the money. would you rather they we plying their trade in spain or italy.

and let be honest if you were to be taken over under similar circumstances to ourself you wouldnt complain

So are you saying that City would be challenging for honours now without oil money?

Doubt it, any way you go and listen to a bit of Phil Colloins.

Who is Phil Colloins? Was he in Genesos?

Most people will probably accept that the 'o' in Colloins was merely a typo, but would contend that YOU cannot spell 'wisely'.

If you are going to make fun of typos to try to appear clever, it helps if you have a modicum of intelligence yourself.

As for 'oil money', you keep repeating that. Something wrong with 'oil money' is there, or are you just a teeny, weeny bit xenophobic? Not to mention that their billions are not only derived from oil, even though that is irrelevant.

Actually, why am I bothering?

Anyone who believes that Liverpool have spent WISELY is seriously deluded.

Liverpool have spent wisely on Henderson, Downing, Carroll and Suarez?

I agree that money has ruined football, however what pisses off all City fans is that fact that the media, and indeed most opposition fans, would have you believe that City is the cause of it all!
I don't mind being critised for spending money - but not by Fans of teams Like United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal or even Everton (once called the Bank of England club for their wealth) who are just as guilty of said crime!

Let's face it to win things you need to spend money - end of!

United spent fortunes to get where they are now!
Liverpool you could argue rose to their lofty position in 70s/80s by spending money more frivilously than anybody. Bill Shankly himself wrote about it in his autobiography - which your club shop banned!!!
Shankly tells how Liverpool bought players just so other teams couldn't. Amazingly though, for a club and fans that say 'istree is so important, you seem to ignore that bit!
Also worth pointing out that Ray Houghton on Talkshite also said that United and Liverpool historically always paid the best wages.

I agree that it's not Manchester City's fault. I'm just calling for a bit of reasoning here. For years, ourselves, City supporters, Arsenal supporters etc took the piss out of Chelsea for "buying trophies" and that they wouldn't be anywhere without money because they were a medium sized club compared to the likes of Arsenal.

This now applies to Manchester City, who, if we're being honest, isn't even the biggest club in Manchester.

-- Tue Jan 24, 2012 4:04 pm --

at least City are spending money on good players, Liverpool are spending money on pure shjt...

Yep you're right - Gareth Barry, Jolean Lescott, Gael Clichy and Savic would get into any team in Europe.

Two things. Firstly, if 'oil money' is bad then why was your club whoring it's way around the middle east? DIC ring any bells.

And slagging off Barry when the great RAFA wanted him as well. Dear oh dear you do have selective memory.

Your wind up is pretty piss poor though in all fairness. Now fuck off back to RAWK where you can wallow with the rest of the fuckers about istreeeeeeeeee and such things.

Love this brilliant, well thought article by Mick Dennis

WE BLITHELY accept Manchester City’s vast wealth. It has become a familiar facet of our football, like that big scar on Alan Hansen’s bonce.

But two absentees from the Etihad epic with Tottenham reminded us how City’s riches have disfigured our game.

City paid £25million for Emmanuel Adebayor and are still paying the majority of his £170,000-a-week wages while he is on loan to title rivals Spurs.

And they paid close to £40m for Carlos Tevez and are doling out all of his salary while he plays a bit of golf and talks to any club daft enough to think of making him even richer.

It used to be the case that a manager who wagered a club’s money on one expensive player who flopped could expect to be sacked and the club could expect to go skint.

Now, at City, nobody bats an eyelid at the most profligate accumulation of unwanted players the English game has ever known.

The bolded part I love. Didn't Hughes sign both players?
