Can’t access my notes at the moment but from memory there was a Manchester Liners ship specifically named after Manchester City that was named shortly after the 1937 League title.

I notice some have talked of the train… there were 2 named after MCFC. The 1st had its name changed to Tottenham Hotspur as there was an event the Spurs train was needed for, so the 1st Manchester City train lasted only a short time.
The second Manchester City locomotive was a B17 class engine, built in the 1930s for the old LNER, engine number 2871, later renamed Royal Sovereign when British Railways took over after the war. According to a report in the M/cr Evening News on 27 July 2012 the Manchester City nameplate was up for auction at an auction house in Carlisle. MCFC should have grabbed it, certainly some of the name plates from other engines in this "Footballer" class ended up adorning the entrances to those clubs' offices.

Anyway I have a large framed reproduction of the City nameplate that I bought a few years ago in one of those posh art shops somewhere round St. Ann's Square, it was a bugger getting it on the plane back to the U.S.
