That's not correct.
If you do something 90% of the time one game and then 90% of the time the next game it's still 90% average.
Stats don't erode over time, unless you're implying that everything starts brilliantly and inevitably routinely gets worse.
A smaller sample set is more prone to give you a false result, either positively or negatively. One poor performance is magnified by the lack of opportunities to have good performances, equally one excellent performance skews the stats in the other direction as it isn't "evened out" by more typical performances.
