Manchester derby - Where would you rank it?

Agreed. The sheffield derby is more intense than ours
I believe most of the real hate comes from beyond simply football. Often, if you look at the stories it's about rivalries between different towns and cities and you'll find something political in there where one dock went on strike and the other didn't etc.

Honestly, not that high. Compared to some derbies around the world it's a nothing derby. Even compared to some in our country it's pretty tepid. It's a big game but the hatred is not that intense.

I have been to a derby in Buenos Aires (Velez Sarsfield v Boca) which makes an Old Firm game (which I have also been to) look like a Watford v Luton pre-season friendly.

Living in Scotland Ive been to a number of old firm games and being fairly neutral (well not really, as I fucking hate Celtic due to their bigotry against Britain)
Well that's quite obvious, when 1 of yer "fans" attacks the Celtic manager.
And all your sectarian bile you sing.(and Celtic get vilified for it,quite rightly)
Wondered why Celtic fans sing "the wee huns are shite" ^^^ there's the reason.
City v rags is well up there with the rest of them.
Came down in november for my 1st.
Never seen so many polis, riot vans etc in my life tbh.

I'd say the old firm is number one for hatred with the Manchester derby or Cardiff vs Swansea 2nd...Saints vs Pompey is evil as well, Mackem/Geordie, they despise each other.

In Edinburgh, Hibs v Hearts can be very bitter although the sectarian subplot has largely gone now. Nothing on the scale of Rangers v Celtic or Cardiff v Swansea but on a par with City v United.

Our Wembley derby was INTENSE. "atmosphere" doesn't get near describing what went on!?

I think as we have a vested interest in our Derby match it's impossible to have a balanced or impartial view of the others around. Actually having an equal fan attendance - like at Wembley worked in our favor as our passion and enthusiasm wiped the floor with them before they even got on the pitch!! Role on August!!

I think as the derby becomes more a part of the title race it'll get more intense and if it was ever to decide the title then i could imagine some "pwopa nawty" scene's afterwards.

"when one of ya fans attacks the Celtic Manager.

I'm a manchester lad, city fan and season card holder of nearly 40 years so dont get your statement. I just happen to now live in Edinburgh due to relocation of my job.

I was merely stating what vile I have personally witnessed when visiting parkhead and being English found it very offensive - which obviously you dont being a Celtic fan at heart! (Bhoy in your name made it slightly obvious)

Talking of Hearts - wasnt it one of their fans that attacked Lennon?

I agree with this. I am from abroad and where I come from there are some tasty derbies.

But it is better this way. If a team loses a derby in some countries their season is shot whatever happens. I don't agree with this, personally i'd rather lose a derby 7-0 and win something than win a derby and win f..all trophies.

The Wee Huns is the local lingo for Hearts (Huns without the train fare) rather than Rangers.

It certainly was a Hearts fan who attacked Neil Lennon. He probably came from the faction at Tynecastle who are sympathetic to Rangers (and Chelsea for some strange reason).
