Manchester derby - Where would you rank it?

I dont think our debry comes close to the old firm, brum-villa, cardiff-swans ect.... alright you get a bit of trouble but there is a feeling of getting one over each other rather than hatred. I have loads of rag mates and i love the banter but i dont hate united, i just love beating them and seeing city challenge them.

Was in Krakow a few years ago when the Krakow derby was on
..some seriously mad fookers there,it was like being back in the 70s here

That's rubbish.

Ours is miles bigger than Brum vs Villa.

I have been to a derby in Buenos Aires (Velez Sarsfield v Boca) which makes an Old Firm game (which I have also been to) look like a Watford v Luton pre-season friendly.
Does that count as a derby in Argentina? It's all about Boca vs River as far as I knew.

It certainly felt like one.

Is Spurs only derby against Arsenal or does Chelsea or West Ham count?

I would say Velez put me in mind of West Ham for what it's worth - slightly down at heel grounds, not the biggest in their city - but also not the smallest.

One interesting quirk was that they kept the home fans in at the end until the away fans had dispersed. Imagine if that happened at Eastlands!!

I'd say the old firm is number one for hatred with the Manchester derby or Cardiff vs Swansea 2nd...Saints vs Pompey is evil as well, Mackem/Geordie, they despise each other.

My grandad went to his first derby in a while last season at Eastlands (lost 1-0) and he described it as 'evil' and he was a regular in the 70's and 80's.

I've noticed it's become a lot more tense now we're 'getting closer' to them but I've always thought it's been a very tense atmosphere.

I'd say if you wanted a better taste of the Manchester derby as a neutral, then you'd go to Eastlands as Old Trafford has a lot of tourists who don't really understand.

I've asked a few fans of other clubs and they said the derby they'd most like to go to is the Manchester derby.

Thoughts?

Forest V Derby - Takes some beating for utter hatred.

To be honest, there wasnt a problem between City & United until bacon face came along. That changed everything, and not just 'cos they were successful - he bred the hatred for anything else into them. All their songs are just about hating other clubs and players - nothing positive about their team.

Pre- fergie, I used to go to Derby games with mates from both sides, enjoy a beer before the game - shout abuse during and reconvene for a beer afterwards.
Shame it changed, cant do that now.

Honestly, not that high. Compared to some derbies around the world it's a nothing derby. Even compared to some in our country it's pretty tepid. It's a big game but the hatred is not that intense.
Bang on the money. The Burnley/Blacburn rivalry is bigger as is the Swansea/Cardiff rivalry, albeit not really being a derby.
I've always considered the Manchester derby as being pretty un-hate filled to be honest.

No mention for Sheffield? A City where most people are Blades or Owls. They'll be taking eachother on in the 3rd tier next season!

I'd rank the Manchester derby in the top 3 of rivalries in Britain alongside The Old Firm and West Ham v Millwall. It was chaos when they last met in the Carling Cup. Scrapping outside, pitch invasions etc.

The biggest now in England is the Manchester derby because of what's a stake.

The derby with the most hatred however is hard to say. I'd say ours is up there though.
