This article is a disgrace. It's unbalanced, a distortion (the match sold our weeks ago) and makes the Evening News into a laughing stock. Stuart Brennan, who I have a lot of time for, must be ashamed of his paper. Surely it is time for those few City fans who still get the paper to boycott it.
More importantly it is time for those of us who work in business to support an advertising boycott.

Have you read SB`s update ?

It's just hot air. Happens too often. Article written. SB apologises. Give it another two months and we will be back here again.

I would imagine he has. The issue is that that article got through in the first place not whatever fire fighting Stuart has been up to. Someone at the paper has done it plenty of damage today.

His update is too late though, or do you mean his damage limitation article?

Depends on your point of view.At least he has a pair of bollocks to come on here.I assume you`ve read his article and are happy with his feedback ?

I am as staggered at this article as the rest of you, and have made my views known to David and to our online operation, as have one or two other journalists.
In fact, I have just written a reply to David's article which is due to go online shortly - apologies in advance if it is misses any points, but it had to be done quickly.
All I can say is that David is entitled to his opinion.

Sorry Stuart. I have sympathy for you. But you know that opinion has to be based on fact. This article is unfair, inaccurate, and unbalanced. It's a breach of all the codes of journalism (PCC, Editors' Code etc. To be honest if I was your Editor I would be very nervous. When it goes viral this will be a real commercial threat to the MEN and it also hugely damages the brand. It's a huge own goal for a local paper to trash thousands of its readers. This sort of thing can be a career-ender.

Read it. Would be better if the MuEN did an apology for a poorly written article.

Unbelievably shocking.
Even though the author is supposedly a Liverpool fan it really does make me wonder whether the MEN is fit for purpose at providing backing for one of the clubs based in Greater Manchester. Not for one minute would the MUEN publish such an article about Utd.
Stuart can try to give us reasons why that shite was published on the web site - but sorry it just doesn't wash. Someone had to review that article and let it out into the wild.
Nearly time for a boycott or to bring back the Chronicle - one or the other.

So to cut a long story short ... SB is a liar ??

In his response on here a good few pages back then if what he is saying is true then the MUEN is opening itself up to MAJOR legal damages if any affiliated party can simply rock up and publish a story on the web site. Someone had to have approved it - even if it is just a cursory glance to make sure bad language, insults and possible claims for libel cannot be made. if not then the MUEN will be out of business fairly soon.

Nah it's the editor/web team, whoever was meant to audit articles before posting them. It's a shit article, Mr Lynch should have been told that and to write something else. That he wasn't is a much worse reflection on the MEN than the fact that they've got a shit reporter on the books.

What a shame. The MEN used to be such a good publication back in the day (when we were a nice club plumbing the depths of the league).

They seem to be going through some kind of transitional stage in that they don't know who or what they should be representing and to which demographic they should be pitching their articles. Clearly there is nothing interesting going on in stretford, no major achievements to speak of, manager is poor, team is worse... But surely given the swashbuckling style of football on show across the city, the project, the trailblazing, the record setting, the big games et etc....surely they can come up with something better than the shite they have been writing.

I was embarrassed by the transfer day private jet article, it sounded so desperate.. This is a new low though.
