Are they just not using the Talkshite model? Wind everyone up and you'll get shit loads of hits on your website, therefore generating more income via advertising? The old model of selling hard copy just doesn't cut it any more. I'm sure they also have anti Filth stuff on their website as well to get Ragcafe in a tizz.

As with Mourinho, just ignore the fuckers.

Sad but true. Hits on the website are all that counts.

It does for some publications but this is different.
This particular story will get a lot of hits. However I don't think they could possibly not see the long term damage caused.

I never thought I would say this because I'm a journalist in the newspaper industry, but I won't be visiting the MEN website or buying the newspaper from now on. This isn't because I'm a sensitive soul jumping on a boycott but simply because that article displays gross incompetence and I will no longer waste my time with it.

If coming up with ill-founded, poorly written copy in the pursuit of some social media controversy is what he considers modern journalism then, quite frankly, he is a stain on the profession.

There is no agenda - this is just incompetence from a very needy reporter.

article is a blatant trolling exercise. sad to see the editor defending such a poorly written and non-researched piece. sad to see Stuart Brennan, who I think writes good balanced articles being dragged in.

If Peter Marshall really is someone on the MEN Newsdesk then he has just put himself in a dreadful position. You can't get personally involved in a story like this. Makes you wonder who is supervising this operation

No he is not affiliated with the M.E.N bud, just some fella chipping in on twitter.
Some reporter from York or something.

If the MEN had any sense they would pull the article immediately and issue an apology. This will seriously damage them.
How can you damage shit?

Lets hope there are a couple of empty seats in the media suite both with MEN on the back

I really think its about time that the club took a stand as other clubs have been doing for years. I know the club want the "holistic" approach but when we the fans are being attacked about our level of support the club need to say enough is enough

That does not mean anyone who critcies the club should be banned but those who basically spout lies about the club like Custis and this troll their media outlets should be told that they are not welcome at our club

Lets face it I can see the press conference I know what the managers says I dont need it regurgitated by a reporter. What I expect from a journalist is a reasoned article with facts that back up an opinion not biased lies

Blimey after all that has gone on in your industry in the past 40 years .

This abomination of a newspaper and the bitter rag that wrote it ought to be banned from the etihad and should be restrained by the club to write any more articles about Manchester city football club.

There is one thing that in our 4 decades of under achievement was never doubted ever by any section of the media, and that was the loyalty of the supporters. For me our loyalty is our history. Now because a few of our fans go for a piss our loyalty is questioned by the newspaper of our own city, it is unbelievable, and it is borne of the same arrogance that allowed scum fans to spit at kids and attack families at the Wembley semi final. Because they have had decades of mocking our under achievement, they now mock our loyalty and our success. This is truly shocking
