People don't all have the same levels of support.

Him being a United fan when he was a kid has no bearing at all on his professionalism as a journalist.

As for point 4, there's a difference between being professional and watching people lie about your employer. Somebody literally whinged that they never printed a story about United's empty seats when not only had Brennan tweeted the exact story hours earlier, but they had printed it in the first place

errr ???

oh, Stewey

almost forgot to say

we're not buying the sophistry

please fook off and 'report' another club.. , prefereably one that isn't showing your beloved rags up as losers

Brennan appears to have some perspective and balance on this, but he's a self confessed Red. He gets paid to report on the blue side, he comes on Bluemoon and sways opinion.
Some say fair play to the guy for coming on here. Others see right through him - he's a Rag, the only reason he appears to back our corner is because that's what put food on his table. As far as I'm concerned he can stick his MUEN up his arse. His response to the Lynch post is purely for self preservation, he obviously can't back the boy so he backs our side, but in all honesty he's just clinging onto his job - reporting on us. The MUEN will not criticize simply because it's a Rag infested newspaper. They did not pull the Lynch piece and apologise for letting some spunked up kid lose half there readership because they simply couldn't give a fuck! Most would expect some sort of climbdown but what do we get - a published printed version YCMIU!
I say let there circulation and website clicks dwindle because as we all really know deep down this is the Manchester United Evening News

Spot on. I was also expecting that they would pull the piece last night and issue some sort of thin, insincere, apology.
The fact that they have decided that this "debate" should be their back page story says it all.
This paper likes nothing more than having digs at us as evidenced by their previous piss take article when we won the
award for best small visitor attraction. They don't give a shit about all the local jobs the expansion is going to create.

Tend to agree

Won't be bothering buying MUEN and will advise business contacts away from these idiots

So basically we're at the level of slagging off Brennan for supporting another football team 20 years ago?

Wilf Wild 1937 said:
I defended Brennan on here yesterday saying basically that the MUEN had hung him out to dry and Lynch had undone all his good work.
I'm now looking objectively at the facts:-
1 Stuart works for this piece of toilet paper.
2 He is a self confessed Rag.
3 His case "for the defence" was published next to Lynch's "case for the prosecution" in today's back page.
4 His attitude when posting on here was quite cocky - along the lines of the club haven't objected so screw you.

Anybody else think he's just playing the part of "good cop" here when the reality is a cop is just a cop?

Let's objectively look at your objective look at the facts.

1. Stuart working at the paper is obvious. He wouldn't come on a forum and defend a paper that he didn't work for.

2. Him being a United supporter as a lad has absolutely no bearing on anything at all. This is childish.

3. He isn't the editor, he doesn't get to design the paper's layout

4. His attitude on here was perfectly fine until morons started insulting him for doing his job, and he took the bait eventually like everybody does.

This level of debate isn't even worth engaging in

Okay then:-

1 We agree.

2 The MEN's greatest ever City reporter was Peter Gardener. Peter was a lifelong Blackpool fan who stated
that the worst day in his childhood was attending the 1948 Cup Final and seeing United beat his beloved
team. From that day on he said he had always hated United and getting the job as City's correspondent
on the MEN was a dream come true. Was Peter childish? Did 1948 still affect his views as an adult?
Football is a game of passion and we are all childish about it even the supposedly unbiased
professionals.

3 Stuart may try to defend us up to a point since he is the City correspondent but do you honestly think
that he'd really "kick off" to his bosses about biased anti-City articles in the same way that a genuine
Blue would do? It's just a job to him. I'm sure he would have had at least an idea as to how the
back page would be structured.

4 Probably true. I'll cut him a break on that one although it's hardly professional.

How do you survive in modern society?

Do you separate the entirety of the species and presumptions on how they think along the lines of football support? What an incredibly specific segmentation

Better not go to the hospital tonight, the surgeon on duty is a rag and he might not make a full effort to save a Blue

Wonder how many of these people actually don`t/won`t have Rags as friends ?

I sure other people have said it
but what a great reply by Ric

thanks Ric for putting our point of view very eloquently

I'm getting a house to share with one grrrr hehe.
I love the banter on here calling them every name under the sun but not in person.
I will rip em but not to the extent we do on here.

It's you that is being childish now.

Comparing a surgeon saving people's lives to a football reporter writing about football is nonsense.
Like most people on here I've got a few Rag friends and I know a few Blues who are dicks.
But guess what? Although I might agree with the Rag friends on some things and disagree with them
on others (strangely enough the things we agree and disagree about vary from person to person)
I virtually never agree with them about football.

I have United supporting friends and agree with them all the time.

Maybe the people you know are just twats?

Yes, Blues and rags all agree Moyes is a football genius.

Nope. Who are you?

It has to be said, all the so called fans who left to get the tram/bus/car 10 minutes from the end did the team no favours. Sell your ticket if you can't get behind the lads, especially for one of the season-defining games.

There is a thread for early leavers and possibly another Lynch article on the subject!

No they are good guys but on football they are obviously biased, even at times unknowingly so (as am I).
You can like people but not necessarily agree with them on every issue.
Newspaper's political writers tend to reflect the paper's politics in all but the best papers where a range
of views are published. In those papers right wing reporters will give the right wing standpoint and
left wing reporters will give the left wing standpoint. Where a supposed "quality" paper would lose
credibility is if say a right wing reporter was asked to give the Government's case on a certain issue
and another right wing reporter was asked to present the Opposition's case. I think they would try
their best to present both cases but certain things would be missed and the feeling (rightly or
wrongly) would be that this was deliberately the case.
