It does for some publications but this is different.
This particular story will get a lot of hits. However I don't think they could possibly not see the long term damage caused.
I never thought I would say this because I'm a journalist in the newspaper industry, but I won't be visiting the MEN website or buying the newspaper from now on. This isn't because I'm a sensitive soul jumping on a boycott but simply because that article displays gross incompetence and I will no longer waste my time with it.
If coming up with ill-founded, poorly written copy in the pursuit of some social media controversy is what he considers modern journalism then, quite frankly, he is a stain on the profession.
There is no agenda - this is just incompetence from a very needy reporter.
There are some incredible journalists out there doing vital work for society.
Then you have this clown chasing some twitter followers.
But like I say - the reason I won't be reading from now on is because I like reading well written, positive and negative, articles on city. This is now clearly no longer the case.
